Re: Paul's 4k Adventure - coder's help needed (again)

Thanks a lot for looking into the code :-). Choose a random amount of HP for the enemy (between 1 and 350) Hmm... there's something that struck me as odd. I did try that battle like 25 times, and as far as I saw, the battles went in exactly identical ways, enemy hit points included. The knight alway...

Re: Paul's 4k Adventure - coder's help needed (again)

There's also a C16 version of the game. Have you tried whether the same thing occurs there, too? Not yet, and frankly, I don't think I want to. I have tried to play quite a few C16 adventures by now, and for some reason my VICE C16 emulator always shuts itself down when I try to save a snapshot ima...

Paul's 4k Adventure - coder's help needed (again)

So, it seems that my affection for trashy games has led me to this game author... The game in question (Paul's 4k Adventure, to be downloaded at the GB 64) features battles with a kind of random system. There is a battle against a knight, which is, to all my knowledge, impossible to win. And I suspe...

Re: CASA slowness

Don't get me wrong - it was nowhere near the ultraslowness we had when the site was newly up. But it does take a few seconds here and there before it reacts. Nothing to worry about. Aren't we all, from our youth, used to loading times of 10 minutes anway...?

CASA slowness

Hey there, guys,

Am I the only one for whom CASA seems to load sort of slower during the last few weeks?

Re: Quest for the Holy Something

Why not write down a list of nicely cryptic hints and send them to Jacob? The site has too few of those, at least in my humble opinion. When I play a game and I'm stuck, I like it much more to get a little pointer, instead of having to rely on a full step-by-step solution.

Congratulations for solving the game. Now write a hint sheet or solution for Jacob to put up on his site :-).

Re: Programmer's help wanted - "Verschollen im Nirgendwo"

Yeah, it seems to be a rather pointless game. As far as I saw it, only the key was important, to open the underground door. I think the code is written on either the piece of wood, or on the beercan. By a strange coincidence, I did find the boat after dropping the spoon, but I didn't find any way of...

Programmer's help wanted - "Verschollen im Nirgendwo"

I tried to solve a certain puzzle in this german adventure a gazillion times, and frustrated, looked into the code. I think it may be a bug... There is a location called "See" (lake), where a boat (german: boot) seems to be hidden. Can anyone of you basic experts tell me what prerequisites are neces...

Re: Synopsis - what to aim for?

Hehe... you guys are of course right - the review is rather short. But honestly, I didn't want to write much more about the game. At least not here on this site. Not that it were a bad game - quite to the contrary. It is absolutely awesome. But it isn't a text adventure game. So I decided to give th...

Re: Lovecraftian Games on the IF Archive

I agree to a certain extent. PoI is definetly a beginners' adventure. Not too long, and easy to solve. I think I have it in such fond memory because I am a great Lovecraft fan, and it was one of the first P&C adventures I ever managed to solve... back when I was young :D Shadow of the Comet, on the ...
