another Xanadu game

This game, otherwise known as Lost in Xanadu is also a BBC game. Published by Adventuresoft. Many of the location descriptions are similar to the previous game. I haven't made much progress. I need to milk the cow. I have a stool but I need something else. When I leave the parapet, a see a bucket, b...

Re: technical question

Thanks everyone for all your help, advice, and suggestions. With Alex's help I got into the next part. But it has become a different game. You sit at a computer and need to type in various access codes, which, at least once, give you one code. It looks like there are hints in your email folder. But,...

Re: xanadu cottage

If you didn't take the rod with you, where did you find it again? I haven't yet found the banknote and dulcimer. What to do at the cashpoint machine? It says to insert your card. What card - the one you used at the dome? And no longer have? What to do at the drawbridge? What to do with the cake, oth...

Re: technical question

I got your stuff, Alex, at home.

So I will let everyone know if/when I succeed.

About the quotation marks, and those L,K things. I found the keyboard map in the Spectaculator documentation. It said there that the Symbol Shift Key was the right shift key. Didn't say anything about Cntrl and Alt keys.

Re: xanadu cottage

I have made it across on the dinghy. Carrying what you said you had. I can't seem to do anything at either the north or south beaches. I tried using the dinghy to go other places, but that doesn't work (maybe I have not explored all possible exits). I can dig a hole in both locations, but I cannot s...

Re: xanadu cottage

I'lll just give you the value of x which is 6396 (won't bore you with maths ). Send me a private message, so you won't bore anyone else. I used to be good in math. Use it or lose it, as they say. You need the skates one more time to reach an object. The first maze of ice contains the bracelet, libr...

Re: xanadu cottage

You need the drumstick, but before you can use the gong you have to get it out of there. You need the notepad to do this. Because of the noise you can't say commands, but you can write them down. Did you solve the formula on the notepad? You''ll need the value of x later on . I tried, using my high...

Re: technical question

Thanks Alex I tried to follow your instructions. Found the Cassette recorder button. Turned off AutoLoad. Found part 2 and highlighted it (blue). I also tried following my instructions on "how to load programs from virtual cassette" but that dodesn't help either. It says "if you have auto load disab...

Re: xanadu cottage

You are far ahead of me. I retrieved the same things from the dome that you did. What did you do at the gong? I tried the drumstick, but that didn't work. Also the rod. By now you have noticed that whatever you leave behind in the dome, gets returned to you when you leave. Then I dropped what I had ...

Thanks Alastair.

I still don't know how to reset the game to load Part 2. Maybe I'll write to the author.

Re: xanadu cottage

I did not have the problem with the wall that you had. Once it's been breached, it stays that way The "frozen" screen happened to me as well, but it was after I crossed the ocean. Try hitting the right Shift key. Don't worry if you need to drop everything but the one thing you need. I am stuck on th...

Re: technical question

Spectatulator version 7.0.1. I have no idea whether one needs to save one's game first, or whether there are three "separate" parts.

xanadu cottage

This is an Alligata-published game. BBC - available at Stairway to hell. It reminds me of another game some of us had played by the name escapes me. Maybe someone remembers. Maybe we never finished it...It had all these mazes... Everytime you returned there was a shortened description of the locatio...

technical question

I am playing Zepherus, a Spectrum game. I have finished Part 1, and it gives me codes to play parts 2 and 3. How do I reset the computer to load part 2?
