Re: Space Derelict! (type-in)

I finished it, thanks to Jim's hint regarding THINK OPEN when there was nothing to open. I didn't find any further game breaking bugs. (There were bugs, just not game breaking.) I did a bit of a search and couldn't find a downloadable version of the Apple book. There are a few printed versions aroun...

Re: Space Derelict! (type-in)

Thanks. I didn't realise there was a walkthrough. The THINK OPEN (or SAY OPEN) was a stupid "puzzle". I had all the clues and still couldn't work out how to use it or phrase it, so had to look at the listing. I'm sure I tried it in room 11 (despite there being no door), but maybe not. You should hav...

Re: Space Derelict! (type-in)

Hey Jim, have you been able to solve this horrible game? I've been tearing my hair out. As best as I can make out, you need to go to room 5 to get the pentagonal box. In order to get to room 5, you need to be carrying the ruined alien robot, but the ruined alien robot is in room 5. If you attempt to...

Re: Microbee Adventures

If you can't see all the adventure disks and walkthroughs, then you'll need the more restrictive licence. (More restrictive in that you can see more, but you're promising not to disclose it to anyone.) I think it's pretty rude that they illegally copy all these games, then claim copyright and get yo...

Re: Microbee Adventures

I've eventually got access to the Microbee downloads at Microbee Technology. For anyone that's interested in Microbee games, I'd strongly recommend using this site, as it supersedes the old Microbee Software Preservation Project site. Some of the old downloads have been updated with bug fixes and th...

Re: Space Derelict! (type-in)

I've just uploaded a couple of screen grabs that I had done in the past. It's taken me about two hours to work out how to run the game. Does anyone have a reference for a quick start to the Model 4? I want to know the bare minimum needed to create a self booting disk that will auto run a BASIC game,...

I'd still like to track down a copy of that book.
Me too.

Re: Microbee Adventures

ChickenMan would be a good one to look after the Microbee entries on CASA. He has credited CASA with a number of the solutions on their disks. OldBee has contributed most of the Microbee specific solutions. It would be good to get him on here too.

Re: Microbee Adventures

This is another fine rabbit hole that you've thrown me into. I had previously downloaded a Microbee emulator and a bunch of zipped files, but I never got much further than that. The emulator is friggin' difficult to use (requires a command line) and the files are thrown around like a mad woman's bre...

Re: AdventP (Or Adventure 500) From 1979 Now Listed On CASA

The CASA database's organisation of the entries for original Adventure is quite atrocious. This particular game is identified as RICH0500 in the Adventure family tree. It's great that it has now been recovered. The 'P' in 'AdventP' stands for 'Pascal', as it was written in Pascal. The adventure fami...

Once again, it has the original author's name wrong. It should be 'Micklus'.

Re: Untangling Dog Stars...

FWIW, I've been trying to find some missing Apple II games and came across the Apple II Mars Mission. I can't get it to understand any of my input, but, as it's written in BASIC, I can look at the source code and see that it's not based on Dog Star Adventure and looks different to the other Mars Mis...

Re: One Step Beyond by Chiang Bros.

It's nice to know that you've found him. I wonder how good his memory is?

More importantly, how the hell do you download an Apple II disk image from the Internet Archive?

Re: One Step Beyond by Chiang Bros.

This is what I know... It appears that the Chiang brothers (Anthony, Kenneth & Samuel) originally published under their own company (Chiang Brothers Software), then some of their games were included on Softdisk . ( Softdisk was a disk magazine for the Apple II family.) However, this is purely conjec...

Re: Space Derelict! (type-in)

I haven't seen the Apple II or PC books, but if someone can find a pdf of those, I can probably modify the TRS-80 listing appropriately.
