Re: Opera House and QA for the Atari 400/800

A solution will be up shortly (once I have worked out who to credit), in the meantime the order for knocking out the phantom is:

1. Handcuff the rings.
2. Drop the chloroform soaked cotton wool down the ventilation shaft.
3. Close the valve.
4. Go to the lair via the trapdoor.

This was done with ...

Re: The Brew - C64

Where do I find some feed for the horse?

You feed him the ingredients for the spell. Later on you can feed him oats, but this is not necessary to finish the game.

I am trying to follow your solution. At the sleeping-flower, I can't get it as it puts me to sleep.

What am I doing wrong?

You ...

Re: The Brew - C64

Another technical problem.

I have followed your instructions at the chasm.

When I type in "SAY AIR! I AM A BIRD!" while on the horse, I get a message that it does not understand AIR A. So I tried various combinations of letters, CAPs etc. to get the game to recognize the exclamation point.

It ...

Re: The Brew - C64

Dagnabbit. I wrote a long explanation about what I did to finally access the chasm. I printed it (but since I use recycled, i.e. printed on one side already paper), can't read it too clearly, since there was stuff on both sides. When I went back to the forum to print it again, I found my message ...

Re: Opera House and QA for the Atari 400/800

I thought I had tried closing the valve, but if I had I obviously must have failed to do something else.

What could that be? Can you trace back your steps and find out?

Anyway I have now completed this game so thanks Dave.

Juan, you need to handcuff the rings when the organ is down.

I have ...

Re: The Brew - C64

Still cannot access Part 2.

Download the copy at Gamebase64:

http://www.gamebase64.com/game.php?id=1109&d=18&h=0

You will find two files in it: BREW0.D64 and BREW1.D64

When you go to the chasm it will ask you to switch the disk and then press a key or the space bar. Follow the instructions I ...

Re: Opera House and QA for the Atari 400/800

I think I mis-stated myself. The above two lines "knock" the phantom out (setting OB%(14,1) to 0).

So it looks like you need to get the chloroform soaked cotton wool to room 12 (down the vent?) and then CLOSE VALVE with the spanner, once you've placed the handcuffs.

OK, if you look at earlier in ...

Re: Opera House and QA for the Atari 400/800

Looking through the code, you can knock the phantom out and meet him when he's unconscious. The code to do this is:
3670 A$="O.K.":IFK%=48ANDLN%=10ANDOB%(17,2)<>1THENPRINTM$(6):GOTO200
3675 IFK%=48ANDLN%=10THENPRINTA$:OV%=0:IFOB%(25,0)=12ANDCS%<>0ANDOB%(0,1)=1THENOB%(14,1)=0

This is in the ...

Re: Opera House and QA for the Atari 400/800

Having seen the discussion on the Brew, with a reference here, I've taken a look: both the Atari and C64 games are in basic (though you have to get the C64 version from a memory dump). So it may be possible to see whether there's any bugs in the games.

The problem here is that I haven't played the ...

Re: The Brew - C64

Did you ever try solving brave african huntress? maybe we can make it another topic? I've reached 80% but I am completely stuck with that one. I can't find a way to get the matches inside the prison.

No, I never tried that game. Maybe it's corrupted or bugged? This is a possibility. I myself have ...

Re: The Brew - C64

Congratulations, fellows.

But I need some more help, and hope you can continue to offer it.

I am at the summit with the egg. I get a message that says TURN DISK.

How do I do that? I am playing on WinVice (can't remember which version). Reset doesn't work. The other disk is in German, I think ...

Re: The Brew - C64

OK, game over. I have bad news, though, the ending sequence freezes when the king is thanking you for saving him. It seems the copy available at Gamebase64 is corrupted.

I will write a walkthrough. Alex, I will include you in it because you provided the solution for two crucial puzzles (making the ...

Re: The Brew - C64

I have concocted a colorful "brew" already, which will apparently bring back all the color to this land, but now I am trying to figure out where to pour it. My prime suspect is the river, but so far I have not found the right line to accomplish this.

OK, I finally succeeded in doing this. The ...

Re: The Brew - C64

How did you do this? I also tried to catch it with the spear but didn't succeed.

It was very easy (which made it quite tough to figure out, paradoxically), just carry the spear with you and then: Get fish with spear.

I did arrive at the river bank. found the radish and the sleeping flower but I ...

OK, never mind, I got it!
