Re: Seeking SUDS games

11 down, 6 to go. Great detective work Alastair. Pity about Space Camp. Maybe it's on another downloads site somewhere.

The brothergames.com site was flagged as suspicious by my virus scanner due to known malware and at least one of the downloads was flagged as suspicious. After exercising due ...

Re: Seeking SUDS games

Thanks for the feedback guys.

To ahope1, I thought it was something like that. Please excuse my ignorance of torrents, but I hadn't used them before. You certainly didn't waste my time, as I learnt a bit about torrents and I now have a "directory" of what Peter Piers had in his collection before he ...

Re: Seeking SUDS games

Okay, I've downloaded a torrent client (uTorent 3.5.1), downloaded Peter's *.torrent files, searched through them and found Colossal Cave and the three games you mentioned, but how on earth do I download them?

I tried the online help and a couple of "how to use torrent" web pages, but they were no ...

Re: Seeking SUDS games

Thanks for the feedback, but no luck I'm afraid. I searched for SUDS and the three games you mentioned on both intfiction.org and intfic.com. I managed to find a link to Peter Piers' gigantic archive, but this is a torrent and I couldn't find any top level folders that would indicate SUDS games ...

Seeking SUDS games

I can't believe that there aren't any SUDS games listed in the CASA database.

SUDS was originally written in 1999 by Andy Elliot. This version had a mouse-driven user interface with no text input. It was expanded and re-released in 2007 by Matthew Smith. This time it had a text interface while ...

Re: AAS (Advanced Authoring System)

I have recently been playing the AAS games and I think terms like "joke" and "hoax" are quite unfair. It was developed "in secret" by a team of very smart people. The idea was to develop an adventure authoring system in a very short period of time, somewhat like Speed-IF, and make it look like it ...

Re: Acheton by Topologika adventure game ..

There is also a Z-code version written by Adam Atkinson and Graham Nelson in 1999. This is the most authentic translation, as it was converted from the original source code using a Perl script. The Perl script was updated by David Kinder in 2011. The original parser and all text responses were ...

Re: Galaxy Trek Adventure #2 by Howard Batie

The original was called 'Galaxy Adventure #1', not 'Galaxy Trek Adventure #1'. The article was titled 'Galaxy Trek Adventure'. This was published in HOT CoCo , vol. 1, no. 3, August 1983, pp. 68–70, 72. A port to the TRS-80 was published by the Club 100 Library.

As I think you have found, there was ...

Re: The Castle of Cire-Nampahc

It took longer than expected, but I've eventually posted the map and solution for The Castle of Cire-Nampahc. It turned out that there were several insidious bugs that messed up the inventory count. These could cause the game to crash. It took me ages to work out exactly what the issues were and how ...

Re: The Castle of Cire-Nampahc

That did the trick. I restarted from a saved game (so that I didn't have the excess score from pressing the switch multiple times), poisoned the snakes, got the jewelled sword and escaped from the castle with the maximum score.

Now that I've solved everything (thanks to Alex's help), I'll work out ...

Re: The Castle of Cire-Nampahc

I found it! The DIG HOLE trick also works in the rose garden. Hey presto! One packet of snake poison.

Now off to get rid of those snakes.

Re: The Castle of Cire-Nampahc

Bloody hell. I don't believe it. The kitchen garden is the obvious place to dig. I had tried DIG, DIG GARDEN, DIG VEGETABLES, DIG HERBS, DIG GROUND and DIG SOIL, but I never thought of DIG HOLE. That worked.

In the tiny attic, I had tried SHOOT TARANTULA, SHOOT SPIDER and SHOOT TRUNK, but I never ...

Re: The Castle of Cire-Nampahc

Alex, you're right. I hadn't found the platinum ring. I must have missed it hidden amongst all the other items. Now we just have to find the potatoes and the snake poison. (Neat hack, incidentally. As it's a machine language game, I hadn't considered dabbling with the code in this way. I guess I ...
