Alistair's information is correct. You can run it from disk if you shorten the program. Here's what it says in the book:
"Due to memory limitations, the program will not run with the disk controller
plugged in unless the graphics title and ending screens are deleted. To do so,
delete Line 9 and ...

I'm using Avast. When I entered a search, it went BING BING BING, warning, warning, the world is about to end. Or something like that.

In this context, "treason" means porting from Spectrum to MC10.Been assassinated once for treason.

OMG. This looks awful. CYOA, not adventure. Don't click the first (retrogamingmagazine) link, as it leads to a page with a search box which in turn leads to a virus-ridden web site.

Re: Does anyone fancy testing The Vespozian Affair (BBC)
I typed in the Atari 8-bit version and I've also got the BBC and Spectrum versions (but need to check the typing), so if the Dragon version doesn't show up anywhere, you could possibly start with one of these. I haven't checked to see which one is closest to the Dragon listing.

Re: CASA 20 years
I've been playing, writing and writing about adventures since the early 1980s, yet I'm a relative newcomer to CASA. Over the last few years, I've spent hundreds of hours getting my own collection in order and submitting info, maps and solutions for everything from obscure 8-bit BASIC type-ins to the ...

Re: The Bianco Mansion
It's just such a shame it's Facebook... it's an absolutely awful platform for such good content... it would be so much better threaded and archived in a forum like this.
I couldn't agree more. As a first-time Facebook user, I was surprised at how cumbersome it was to use. I tried it on a web ...

Ask and ye shall receive. This is the version for the Amstrad CPC as published in Personal Computing Today , vol. 3, no. 7, February 1985, pp. 14–18 The magazine listing contained a bug in the location data, but this has been fixed. I haven't found the version published in Games Computing , but it's ...

Re: The Bianco Mansion
CASA gets a lot of mentions on the FB group... I probably link to it at least three times every day. :)
I've joined up. Lots of interesting stuff and CASA does get mentioned quite often. I'll probably lurk for a while until I have a chance to read the backlog and get a feel for the general vibe ...

Great work. By the time you're finished, the source will be unrecognisable from the original. And it should be a half decent game, too.

Re: The Bianco Mansion
Wouldn't dream of it. Perhaps you could use the Facebook group to notify people about significant new entries, new solutions etc. on CASA. That's up to 1400 potential CASA users and, hopefully, contributors.

Re: The Bianco Mansion
I use Trizbort for the maps. It has some quirks and takes quite a bit of effort to get used to, but I prefer it over anything else that's out there. I've now done several hundred maps with it (perhaps half are on CASA) and I've learnt lots of little tricks to get the most out of it. Alex also uses ...

I've avoided Facebook for years. You've just given me a reason to reconsider. I had no idea there was an 8-bit text adventures group on there.Strident wrote: Mon Feb 18, 2019 10:05 am As mentioned on the 8-bit text adventures Facebook group...

Re: The Bianco Mansion
I kept the original listing as per the book, then did a bug-fixed version that I might use later. You picked up some bugs that I didn't and I picked up a few that you may have fixed but didn't mention. For example:
In line 750, the first "22" should be "L=22".
In line 270, the first "1050" should ...
