I have a feeling that "GAC user" is just a placeholder that has been copied across archives.
City for Ransom, for instance, I know from Adventure Probe, was originally sold directly by the author and later re-published by WoW. I think I added the WoW Software tag but didn't delete the "GAC user ...

Re: Who or what is "GAC user"?
Definitely not a pseudonym, for all the reasons you stated. Those authors are known.
From a bit of research, there was a GAC Users Group run by Barry Roberts in Mold, but I don't think they're connected. Incentive may have had an official user club but I've not come across a reference to that yet ...

Re: Genre Suggestions
After a brief look... yeah, I could see the justification of using 'word play' as a tag for one or two of them, because that's the main mechanic... but is your intention really to use the genre system to tag games which have specific types of puzzles in them? You'd be in danger of turning into ...

Re: Genre Suggestions
I'm not sure about 'word play' as a genre! So many games used object-based puns! For example, many of the Tartan 'Door' games.
I used to use as many (bad!) puns as possible in my object puzzles. I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with them tagged with 'word play' as a genre. Unless the game is 100 ...

Re: Competition Entries etc. (split from "Genre Suggestions")
I have an objection with whole idea of flooding the database with pointless (to most) space fillers. The easy argument against this is that there is already tat in there (MIA, unreleased games, games that are just rubbish!) but that is the legacy we have and even some of them have historical ...

Re: Competition Entries etc. (split from "Genre Suggestions")
I imagine that quite a lot of the longer adventures (some might say "proper" adventures, but I'm quite partial to small mini-games myself) that are entered for competition are created quite independently from the competition itself... Entering it for judging is just a way of highlighting a game and ...

Re: A good old reference manual
The Magnetic Scrolls games used to have really decent manuals which took players through the basics of an adventure. You could certainly use similar headings to structure your own manual.

Please delete... http://solutionarchive.com/game/id%2C79 ... rsons.html as I've combined that entry into the one for The Lost Children.

Re: Competition Entries etc. (split from "Genre Suggestions")
Interesting discussion. I've zero interest in the modern Inform stuff, mainly because I prefer text adventures to interactive fiction, but I can understand the appeal to others. It would be a shame if non-8/16-bit games drowned out the retro games, though.

Re: Hibernated 1 Physical Edition
(I did personally prefer the original multi-colour Spectrum PAWed version, but the Spectrum DAAD version does has 42 column text, which some people might prefer).

Re: Duplicate Game - Eurorun
Hmmmm....WoS lists the game as coming in two language variants, Slovenian and Serbo-Croatian. From what I know, which admittedly isn't a lot, the languages are sufficiently different to warrant two db entries.
Cool. I was having trouble loading in the other variant so wasn't sure if it had just ...
