Recovered ZX Spectrum adventures

Thanks to the generosity of collectors like Steven Brown and the work of André Luna Leão at Planet Sinclair, there has been a steady release of previous missing ZX Spectrum games and variants these past couple of weekends.

I'll post details of ones that Spectrum adventure players will be interested ...

Re: Cursed Be The City - solution removed

Yes, I'll sort that out. Thanks, Garry.

I do have an entire "snapshot" of Dorothy's (now archived) site. I know there were some solutions on there that we don't actually have on CASA.

Cursed Be The City - solution removed

Just to say that I've removed the Cursed Be The City solution from the site that was here...

As for some reason only the first part was related to Cursed Be the City... it seemed to have the Cricket Crazy solution pasted over the ...

Re: Island of Artuan Adventure - kill siren??

I'd been randomly looking at some of the games by Kuma Software/Kuma Computing and, when looking up references for another title, and my eyes were drawn to The Island of Artuan.

I see that we've got this Kuma game in the database for Einstein, with a current date of release as 1984.

Re: Another Classic Ported to TRS-80 MC-10

I enjoyed the write-up of your conversion process, Jim. ( https://jimgerrie.blogspot.com/2022/01/galactic-hitchhiker-by-knight-1980.html for those that haven't seen it).

Yes, I'm Gareth. The solution, walkthrough and map were by benkid77 but the "8bitAG" page of information on the history of the ...

Re: Another Classic Ported to TRS-80 MC-10

Great stuff and, from the video, it looks like you've implemented sensible QoL tweaks like adding a more traditional inventory command and movement system too.

Re: African Adventures

Jungle Bunny seems to be very similar to Peter Gerrard's Castlemaze Adventure but changed to an Afican setting instead of a castle.

Lol! Good spot. Yes, looking at the solutions side-by-side, you're completely right. That's a great bit of recycling by Peter, there. :)

I tagged Artic Wastes! as ...

Re: Another Classic Ported to TRS-80 MC-10

Yeah, that's definitely further than I've got so far. :)

Jason's got half a map in his blog post. Ben's solution (on the site) and YouTube video is very useful, although there isn't a map.

Re: Another Classic Ported to TRS-80 MC-10

It's not in BASIC, which would make re-implementing it a lot trickier, but one historically significant game that I have considered porting is the very early British adventure Galactic Hitchhiker...

David Williams - Adventure Shell

I was randomly looking up the entries we have for David M. Williams *** today and came across another of the many "David Williams" out there.

This one (British based) was the Your Computer magazine adventure helpline operator in 1985/6.

Your Computer started publishing a 'Write Your Own Adventures ...

Re: Another Classic Ported to TRS-80 MC-10

I can't believe that you will have run out of crap, broken BASIC games, Jim. I'll keep my eyes open for anything that looks suitably interesting. I did spot a few a while back but didn't make a note of them. I expect that Jason Dyer's run through of 1982 will bring some interesting targets to light ...

Re: Another Classic Ported to TRS-80 MC-10

It's always interesting to see your new adaptations of the old BASIC games, particularly when you fix them and make them playable.

I don't think there are any Captain 80 games that are difficult to get in a playable form. Because of the popularity of the book they all seemed to get ported to ...
