order is important

Aftger you get the gloves and the knife, and look at the clothing
fill the flask and get the boots and talk to the king.
Then (I still say SHOW WATER works).
Then get your ID checked.
Then check the room with the paint, and play cards.
Then the pillow (this can be done earlier), then the fangs.
Then ...

door of despair

This was a lucky shot and it worked: FEEL DESPAIR.

I suppose we can try verb after verb after verb at the bear and the knight, but I am about "verb-ed" out.

further progress limited

Out of interest I loaded part 2. (you are told to load it soon after the rats and the door).

It seems that you will need to have many more objects to begin part 2.

So, until we figure out what to do with the knight and the bear, I feel we are stuck.

I have tried every verb I can think of to "read ...

nudges

Yes, this game is interesting, but it is one tough nut to crack.

Try LAY ON BED. The object found there will help at the spikes. This parser recognizes more than two word combinations.

Have you tried HELP at various locations?

You can LIGHT FLASK. then one more unusual command, and you will be ...

not wooden

I really do need to reorganize my notes. Not the wooden one here, but the metal one. So, you have to get into the ziggarat the second way first. You start with EXAMINE ZIGGARAT, and go from there.

verbs

SHOW WATER.

Then head into town and play cards. Operative verb is ACCUSE. Then check out the peeling paint and eventually confront the lizard-man.

that's why...

I too couldn't get past the knight, but I may have gotten past the rats. Hence, why I need more people to get through this one.

dismal chamber area

When you are exploring that area (I think it's below the slab), examine the slime and the hole. You should find something that will help you go up from the dismal chamber in the "filthy, littered" room.

There are two ways into the ziggarat - once is moving hte slab; the other is when you are facing ...

The flask with water. It is helpful around the oasis area where people are ignoring you.

Don't forget to TALK KING when you are there.

nudges

Have you checked the walls around the kitchen/dining room area? Information obtained there will help you once you give the silver. Do this before you give the silver. Once in the tent be observant

Use the knife in the bedroom. Operative word is CUT. What to say to the woman will become clearer ...

maybe

My saves in this games are all over the map, so to speak.

When you EXAMINE CELL and see your sister, you should be able to go W, E, N, UP (and that should take you to where you began this section). Then you go S, E, W, D, N, W, D. And there you begin the saga of where I am stuck because of glitches ...

further along, but...

You guys may not yet have caught up.

But there may be a glitch in the game, and I don't want you to play for naught.

I need to learn to take my own advice about many locations seeming the same. Careful mapping is important.

QN or Guido (whoever cracks these games): at the high priest's place ...

sounds familiar

This sounds familiar. Are you sure there is not a solution out there somewhere? What platform is it played on?
