Juan and Alastair - thank you both SO much - this information will be very helpful.

At the risk of sounding totally stupid - what are Cider Press and Sneeze? Emulators?

Thanks again.

I'm particularly interested ...

Would that I were in section 4. I am exactly where I was in section 3 when I last posted and fearing that I still won't know what to do with the fishing pole. Hoping to get to play this weekend.

Wow! You have made great progress.

I, on the other hand...

Play time tomorrow fingers crossed. I must admit that (1) I plan to make liberal use of the information you provided and (2) I am not at all sure how I feel about playing section 4 if it means replaying section 3 again...

Enjoy your ...

Any idea what you had with when the "vague form of rope" beyond the door became an actual rope?

As for the gems, I ...

Made it past Frank's monster by waving the torch (well, of course the game doesn't recognize the word torch but you can wave long after tieing the rags to it, dipping them in oil, then burning the rags while holding the matches). This got me the hammer.

I got the magic word after collecting all the ...

I did manage to get past the door using the password where I found "a vague form of rope" but I haven't figured out what it is or how to get it yet...

Did I miss a ladder somewhere?
