When I do draw a map I often start with pencil and paper (especially for mazes), but instead of repeated re-drawings I move on to Serif DrawPlus and complete the map there. Older versions of DrawPlus often turn up on magazine cover discs (or at least did, it's been a few years since I've read a ...

Regarding carrying objects the trick I use is to drop everything in a "Greek" corridor then let the tidybot carry everything for me.

One minor amusement, though likely a bug in the program and of no use, you can order the huge workdroid to go up through the vaclock door even though the door is ...

No help towards the solution, but if anyone is unable to start the C64 version of the game make sure your emulator is using an NTSC mode rather than PAL. (It took me about ten minutes to work that out.)

I am also stuck at the vaclock door.

I thought that tying the weight to one of the handles whilst pulling the other would be all that would be needed, but no joy. Either something else needs to be done or I have yet to issue the right command.

Not a particularly subtle hint, but you are on the right track in putting things in the chest. You have to put everything but one item in the chest before taking the hour-glass, as to what that one item is the game tells you that at the beginning. I will also point out that before you open the chest ...

Well I've finished it, my advice is to save often as sudden death syndrome is quite common and only after you have died will you have an idea that there is a problem to solve. That said, the game is quite short so those deaths are not too bothersome.

As to your problem, before entering that room ...

Thanks again, to both you (Jacob) and Terri.

You now how it is, you try one-hundred-and-one ever more desperate commands before concluding that there is nothing left to find, so when you discover that you were looking in the right place and had the right idea but had overlooked the words chosen by ...

Terri has sent me a hint file, so I'm able to help.

Simply ask the hermit for help (HERMIT HELP), and he should guide you onwards.

I've already done that (or rather ASK HERMIT FOR HELP), it's the next part that is my problem because GIVE ALL (my possessions) results in the Hermit saying "Sorry ...

Solved the raft problem. If your hands are full then you cannot get on the raft, and furthermore if you issue the correct command when your hands are full a bug stops you proceeding further even if you drop an item and try again.

Now I have a fresh problem - what does the hermit require?

Hi,
just out of curiousity... what happened to the homepage mentioned above?
A quick google for "Adventure Creation Environment" gave me
http://www.aceadventuregames.com/

(If you are wondering how I knew that ACE stands for Adventure Creation Environment, I first used the original address with ...

What sort of Spectrum are you emulating?
Using 48, 48+, and 128 models (with ZX Spin) I can get the game to start, but when emulating a +3 I get a blank screen.

CGW Magazine Downloads

The magazine "Computer Gaming World" is offering its first 100 issues (December 1981 to November 1992 inclusive) as free PDF downloads.

I thought folks might like to read reviews of games written at the time they were released, and perhaps discover an adventure game or two that sounds interesting ...
