Missing link in latest update

Hello Jacob,
it's good to see the site updated again, there's one small problem that I have noticed though. Although you can download the Lone Brave map (if you guess the file name) you have forgotten to add a link to that download.

Regards,
Alastair

After moving from the lake area north of the waterfall to the old, rickety east-west path, is there any way to get back to the starting locations? There does not seem to be any reason why this path should be one-way.

I have yet to find a helicopter but I have made a little progress with the astronaut with

GIVE KEYCARD TO ASTRONAUT
SAY TO ASTRONAUT "HELP ME"
SAY TO ASTRONAUT "FOLLOW ME"

Also I have found that you cannot WAIT more than once in the presence of the astronaut.

I've found that you can use "the Graphics Magician" available at www.graphicsmagician.com/polarware/pengraph.htm to view the graphic files of the non-Comprehend version, but like you I have found none of the part 2 graphics on the disc images that I have downloaded.

As to the origin of the cracked ...

The "bugged" version stops exactly where this walkthrough ends. These comments suggest that this version isn't bugged at all, but was some sort of an incomplete alpha version that somehow found its way into the hands of those outside of Penguin. Very interesting.

Not necessarily, if this game was ...

The manuals are just regular HTML files, just double-clicking on them should open them up in an internet browser, if not, start up your usual browser and drag "vice_toc.html" on to it.

If you mean the .vkm files then you can open them with WordPad if you wish, but it is not necessary. It is ...

Terri, with reference to WinVICE, you should have also unzipped some HTML manuals along with the emulator on to your computer. Look for "vice_toc.html" which is the table of contents. Failing that, the same file is located on the internet at
http://www.viceteam.org/vice_toc.html
with keyboard ...

It looks pretty good, though we really need the Mozilla browsers to improve their SVG text handling, maybe the jump triangles that are linked from above should be inverted.

A preference of mine, and I realise everyone seems to differ on this point, is for up/down links to be double arrow-headed ...

Good! Now I can see the text in the tabs.

I take it the locations with a blue underline are the starting locations in each area? (Something to add to the key.)

As for the jumps, instead of a triangle would an eight-pointed star with each star point at a cardinal point be too complicated to produce?

I have no idea of what you can and cannot do with svg - I had previously assumed it was a static vector format - but is it possible to have a clickable box that will take you to the relevant tab? Perhaps you could have a link in the relevant direction from a location to a clickable box, and give ...

I've tried the latest map with SeaMonkey 1.1.7 (both OS/2 and MS Windows versions) and can now see the popup hints that previously did not work, however there are text layout problems with the whole map, presumably the same as you witness with Firefox.

You can discuss here games for any platform you like, though there's a separate forum for the modern stuff. If you go down the list you will see games for the C64, BBC, Apple ][, Amstrad CPC, and others. It just seems that there were a lot of text adventures written for the Spectrum, curious as the ...

Somehow I just knew I'd have to write one more time.

You have to wear all the objects. I have another verb problem - how to wear the last item. I thought the thongs would be helpful for this. The hint says "many uses". One of those verb noun to noun - one final hint please. I've tried INSERT, TIE ...

Using Terri's hint of looking at the file with notepad I discovered the word "step," going to the water's edge I tried

> STEP OVER ROCKS

it worked! I checked further, you do have to scare the lion before proceeding this way.

A little later I finished it.

Terri,
it was north of the unhealthy tree.

Anyway, I agree that at least one more of the missing items is likely to be found before you need to cross the desert. There could be a way across the rapids, but I am also intrigued by the message that the second mountain lion bounds up the mountain ...
