Re: Fixed games
dave, my point was that the textual fix is more important than the image - because if someone comes to the site and is playing the game on the original machine, and only finds the fixed image then that's going to require an awful lot more work to transfer to the original machine than it would be to ...

Re: BUG: Clicking on games in Your queued submissions broken
I only have two in my list of queued submissions - both updates to existing games. One is a textual submission of the year, and the other is a submitted screenshot ...

BUG: Clicking on games in Your queued submissions broken
Hey,
Think I've spotted another funny - if I click on the Your queued submissions page, and then try to click through to any of the games listed, I get:
Access denied!
Sorry, but it doesn't look like your user account is allowed to access this page.

Re: Fixed games
Alastair's A Message from Deep Space bug fix note sounds very similar to one I included in my solution to Hitch-Hiker , which was a single line poke to fix an error in the programming logic.
I didn't consider such a minor change warranted the hosting and distribution of a new version of the game ...

Re: BBC Micro - The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings: Game One upd
Given his stubbornness to actually do what he was supposed to in the last part, we're finding it hard to care. :)
We'll go as far as we can, I'm sure we can get pretty far in before the save thing becomes an issue ... It does say in the documentation that the individual parts are completable ...

Re: Processed submission still shows up in my queued submiss
oh, no worries. I didn't realise it was manual, so thought it might need reporting as a bug.
Feel free to use it as you wish.
Cheers.

Processed submission still shows up in my queued submissions
As per subject. One of my recent submissions - a screenshot for Lord of the Rings: Game One (Melbourne House) - has been processed (can see the picture attached to the game), but is still showing up in my queued submissions list.
I expected it to have been removed like all the others?
Sam.

Re: News image bug on front page
ahah ...
I've been accessing the site with www.solutionarchive.com. If I swap to using the URL solutionarchive.com, then the pictures appear. That explains why it worked after the browser restart last night. I must have entered solutionarchive.com without the www. when I reloaded the site.

Retro Gamer: The Making of…Zork and Magnetic Scrolls feature
Hey,
Just wondered if anyone else had noticed there's a bit of text adventuring going on in the UK's Retro Gamer magazine over the last couple of issues. Issue 77 had a The Making of ... article on Zork, whilst this month's issue 78 has a lookback behind-the-scenes at Magnetic Scrolls.
Apparently ...

Re: News image bug on front page
If I click on a game, e.g. Computer Concepts' Hitch Hiker, that I know has a screenshot then, yes, I can see that screenshot.
Not sure where you mean by the screenshots pages, if that's somewhere different?

Re: News image bug on front page
FYI,
I'm seeing the same behaviour I reported yesterday on an entirely different laptop. This one is running Windows 7 Enterprise 32-bit and Firefox 3.6.6.
Neither restarting the browser or logging in/out of the front page revealed those two images this time. Again, tho, the Hitchhiker's image is ...

Re: BBC Micro - The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings: Game One upd
I've just spent a lot of time this evening reading through old Spectrum magazine scans, looking for LotR hints (now collated and submitted to the archive).
I now think that there are three ways to get past the three Black Riders which, I suspect, are purposely designed to appear on the eastern side ...

Re: News image bug on front page
Not as far as I'm aware. The fact that the Hitchhiker image is there implies I'm logged in OK.
Hmmm ... just restarted the browser and images have returned. Didn't need to log in again. Dunno what that means. Maybe a false alarm? I'll shout back if it happens again.

News image bug on front page
Hi,
I've noticed a bit of a bug on the front page - I'm not seeing the images from the posts on Thu Jul 08, 2010 and Sun Jun 13, 2010. Though interestingly, I can see the Hitchhiker image from the Wed Jun 30, 2010 news post.

Re: BBC Micro - The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings: Game One upd
OK, looks like we've finished part 1B now.
Only confusing bit was the very end. We still haven't got a fix yet for the issue that stops us loading the save game from 1A into 1B. This means we've had to play through 1B without any of the items from part 1A - including the scroll that would have ...
