Re: New site - bug reports

I'm not sure the company field is the right place to indicate this. A game can be freeware, but published by a company and it can be commercial, but not be published by a company.

Re: New site - bug reports

The "-" option can always be found in the last "company" dropdown box. If you want to apply it on a game which already has a company attached to it, you have to select it in the second one. This option will also purge/disregard/override any previously entered companies, so no need to change those to ...

Re: New site - bug reports

Mark, are those slowdowns always related to screenshots loading (on pages with screenshots or the page loaded directly after a page with screenshots) or do they occur independently of that?

Re: New site - bug reports

Chances are this happened during the automated data import.

Re: New site - bug reports

"Nebula Designs Software" (id: 347) only appears once (under "N"). The one on top is " Nebula Designs Software" (id: 497). Whether there is any point to that distinction, I don't know. Each of them seems to have exactly one game attached.

Re: Scope of the site

Problem is, the tag would apply to the game rather than the version which is an unofficial port. If you include these versions on the site, I think the best way is to add a note along the lines of "version on the Plus/4 is an unofficial port" to the synopsis.

Re: Platform distinction

C16/C116/Plus4 can all be joined in my opinion. As with the C128, there is hardly any single game which doesn't run on all models.

In those rare cases ( Bureaucracy), a note in the synopsis would be enough.

Re: Scope of the site

Well... I'm not saying it will be very easy to make it searchable that way. It is certainly possible, though. However, we would need a policy decision first: What does it mean if more than one tag is selected? OR or AND?

Re: Scope of the site

It's always a pleasure receiving new ideas, and yours certainly has some merit. If we were to add info on the areas you suggest, I'd prefer (as you do) to have them as tags, rather than introducing an entire new field.
Agreed. But I thought suggesting completely replacing the genre function with a ...

Re: New site - bug reports

I can make the personal submissions visible to the users in the same way they look on the internal overview fairly easily. They won't look very pretty, though. Jacob, you're ok with this?

Conceptual question: companies

Almost no game from the mid 1990s on has got a company which published it - only an author. Problem is, there is currently no way to set the non-existence of a company for a game. It always stays at "?", as if there is something still to find out. That doesn't look good on the games list and the ...

Re: Scope of the site

The way I understand you, you're ok with me going ahead then. Until my next crazy idea anyway. The reason I'm asking is this:

Normally, I'd just submit those games and let the responsible people take care of discussing this with others or themselves. But for some inexplicable reason, I find myself ...
