Re: Lovecraftian Games on the IF Archive

Funny - PoI is special to me, too, because it's the last Adventure game I bought right when it came out. I did enjoy it to a certain extent, but those rooms later in the game which are completely empty but for one single item really got on my nerves. Clicking on the only item in sight is not a ...

Re: Lovecraftian Games on the IF Archive

I have reviews of both games on my site. Short version: Shadow of the Comet is absolutely excellent in my opinion, Prisoner of Ice is disappointingly shallow.

Re: Idea: browse for "unsolved"

Mark wrote:I noticed there are games getting added which have no solution yet. Wouldn't it be a neat feature to be able to browse for such games?
The rest is just policy. Jacob, decide.

Re: Idea: browse for "unsolved"

"Unsolved" checkbox is now on the advanced search form. Of course, if you check it and select "Solution" in the box above at the same time, you'll get zero results ;)

Re: New site - bug reports

I could try a workaround on database level; that would be fairly inexpensive. I'm not sure how this particular SQL server will react to the attempt, though. I'll just give it a try.

Re: New site - bug reports

Well... not necessarily. I see what you mean, but computers think differently. Manual re-sorting is an expensive operation - how important is that?

Re: Games everybody should know

Deadline, because it was one of the first non-treasure-hunt games, i.e. a game which showed a text adventure can grow into other story genres as well.

Re: Clarification: Sypnosis and uploaded files

I can only answer the last one about the tooltip: Please include system information for the screenshots. The number in front of that isn't the year (you picked an unfortunate example where it could be mistaken for one), but an internal file ID automatically generated by the system. It's displayed ...

Re: New site - bug reports

If you want this information, a dedicated "licence" field would probably be the best option. Of course, you'd have to think about a policy how to deal with changes over time (i.e. "formerly commercial game, now freeware").
