Yeah, okay, that's different. My breadbox is safely tucked away in the attic, secret plotting for world domination ;) I guess she can play with it in a couple of years. I think I'll have a hard time convincing her to give C64 adventures a go!

Thanks a lot - but why wait until he's 8? My daughter is already playing on my C64 emulator at the age of 4 ;)

I think the lack of C64 coverage is due to the fact that most, if not all, of the good C64 adventures were solved a long time ago. However, there seems to be an almost endless flow of Quill'ed Spectrum adventures - I won't make any comments on their quality, though.

But I am first and foremost a ...

Thanks for the offer but I just received one this morning. But if you write any other solutions, please send them my way!

That's odd. According to the settings, you should be allowed to use url's after five posts. I'll have to check further.

My take on the matter is that hints are supposed to be exactly that - hints, not straight solutions. Perhaps it's just me, but if I've struggled with a puzzle for a long time, just getting a direct solution feels, well, a little flat. On the other hand, if a nugde will guide me in the right ...

Yes, I have those and think they might make nice replacements for the missing ones. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi Dave,
(Just for the record, you haven't been able to post URL's, as my new counter-spam plugin blocks the posting of URL's until the poster has made a certain number of posts - 5, I think. You can always paste as text, of course)

I'm a little late to the party, but I hope it's not too late to ...

sounds rather annoying to me, switching off a server without informing people beforehand. As far as I can see, the AD&D maps were among those affected. If you can't get them back from if-legends, I will look if I still have copies on my old computer.

Well, I think I am largely to blame myself ...

Ok, after adding a new anti-spam measure, we're back to the old days where people can freely join in without my prior approval. As it turned out, I ended up with 300-400 fake registrations and two (count'em - two!) genuine new users. I spent too much time sifting the good from the bad, hence this ...

No, you're right. Those maps used to reside on an external server - which I've lost contact to :(

I'm quite sure that I have a backup of those maps tucked away somewhere, I just can't find them at the moment

Actually, I was a bit worried myself as I had no clue what was wrong! Turns out that the server software has been upgraded, changing some settings in the process and switching the forum off. It might have been useful if I had been informed of this :)
But I'm glad we're up and running again.

Forum back online

Due to a glitch on my USP's part, the forum hasn't been available for a couple of days. Sorry about the inconvenience!
The upside of this is that the site should now be running on faster servers. For the moment being, things do in fact appear to run more smoothly. Here's hoping...

The drunk is S and D from where you killed the rat. The corkscrew is in the same location.

Well, it's a good thing then that we've solved both games already - just to prove that we did it without cheating ;)

Seriously, thanks for letting us know about the tool. Is there a list anywhere of the Adventurescape games? Personally I quite enjoyed both Amnesia and Xanadu, so if there are more ...
