Now, if it's any horror game that you're interested in, rather than just Lovecraft, I would give strong recommendations to The Abbey and Hampton Manor . Both of these are "modern", though about 15 years old now.
Hahaha, yeah, "modern" is definitely in the eye of the beholder! I'm sure that some ...

Just to keep you all updated: the basic part of the new site - searching, commenting, rating, uploading and browsing - is now complete and just need some tweaks to layout and visuals.

Work on the front page - with news section and more - has started. Will keep you posted!

Well, there's nothing wrong with a toot once in a while ;) (I was intrigued to see Terraquake as a "similar game" to Dracula, though!)

Moonmist never really caught me - I think I would have enjoyed it more if Stu Galley had focused his energies on creating one great story rather than four average ...

I'd definitely vote for Hound of Shadow and Dracula as well. The puzzles in both are questionable, and the latter is horribly (!) linear, but the writing is excellent. Pike also wrote Jack the Ripper which is also worth your time.

But for me, the finest effort is Infocom's The Lurking Horror ...

I'm sure hat some people will be sorry to miss out on all the exciting spam action, but for the rest of us, yeah, sometimes a spam filter is just what the doctor ordered ;)

Haven't had time to update phpbb yet due to work. It's at the top of my to-do list.

For the time being, I have disabled private messages. I know it's inconvenient, but the alternative is worse.

Not really, no. Either everybody can send pm's or nobody can.

There might be a plugin module which will alter this, I'll have to investigate.

Spammers

We seem to have been hit by a wave of spammers. They mainly seem to operate by sending private messages.
Whenever I delete one of those users, I also delete their private messages.

So if you receive a mail notification saying:
"New Private Message has arrived", and there's nothing in your inbox, it ...

Well, I'll be upgrading the forum software soon, anyway - hopefully it'll be more efficient at holding those morons at bay (shesh, who am I kidding?? ;))

Well, mr. ManninBlackk has gone the way of the dodo.

Really annoying, though, as we haven't had an influx of spammers for quite some time.

Hey, I'm working on it :D Given the speed of which I've interviewed people so far, I guess I'll have all of the European writers covered around the year 3000!

Personally, I love Infocom too, but I can't help thinking that's a bit exaggerated (except maybe for the early 1980s)...

My thought exactly! Perhaps Magnetic Scrolls didn't break a great deal of new ground (except for the wonderful graphics and the occasionally really odd storylines :)), but ...

I just took another closer look at the interviewees. It certainly contains an appetizing selection. I was rather surprised to find FPS maestro John Romero in there, but it turns out he worked on Infocom's Shogun.

Seems that he's covered the American scene very well, including most (all?) of the ...

Thanks for the heads-up regarding the discount - this should make for an entertaining package!
