I've tried every permutation of commands possible without any effect, so I think the game might be bugged. Ah, well, do you fancy having a bash at part 2?

How does one open the security box?

You need to ask the assistant in the hardware shop for the screwdriver. She then gives you a bag. Examine the bag and discover a number. Use this at the servicetill.

What to do at the clock?

I think this is where the Silent spell might come in handy.

I ...

Hi, Terry,

Here are the answers to some of your questions.

>So far I have two spells (Life and Alien). Once you are an alien whqat can you do?

Cast alien, then threaten the adventurer and ask adventurer for help. Break the lake, go down, touch the creature. Touch the plaque which reverses the ...

Terri,

Which version are you playing - Spectrum, BBC or C64?

By the way, did you check my own queries regarding 'It's Magic' and 'Enthar 7'?

All the best,

Geoff

Escape from Enthar 7 - BBC adventure

I'm writing to ask for help with the game Escape from Enthar 7. This is a massive and hugely enjoyable adventure with some 450 locations spread over at least eight game 'worlds'. I've been attempting to solve it for the last five years or so and occasionally make some progress, but now reckon that I ...

It's Magic

Has anyone played this BBC game, published by Central Computing (and available from Stairway to Hell)?

I've almost completed part one, but am completely at a loss how to use the form in the library. Giving the uncompleted form to the assistant there results in a rejection as the 'nameless one', but ...

Hi, Terri,

Dorothy does occasionally miss out relevant points in her posted solutions, so maybe she's just making sure that 'adventurers' explore all the possibilities.

You have to throw each of the 'ape knees' into the fountain in order to get the penny. Once you have that you can buy the paper ...

Terri,

Dorothy Millard has a full solution of this up on her site, although it fails to mention what you need to do with the pair of 'ape knees'.

All the best,

What version are you playing, Jacob? 'Look in tree' produces no response, though ' get gold' works.

Thanks, Jacob,

But any help to get into the castle in the first place would be much appreciated.

I presume that I have to buy an axe to chop down the tree and avoid the crocodile, but money I have none. All attempts to investigate the hollow tree or call for 'Rover' prove fruitless.

All the best ...

My, this is a weird one!

The game seems to have one of the most limited parsers ever released and who's this bloke chewing chunks out of my neck?

I can't even enter the church!

All the best,

Geoff

Peneless

This is a Spectrum game.

Don't ask me what its title means or whether or not it has been misspelt ('Penniless'?). Anyway, the damned thing's been bugging me for years.

Any help won't just be much appreciated but result in my appearance on your doorstep with a magnum of Dom Perignon (offer does not ...

Sorted!

Hi, Terri,

There are actually two versions of 'The Golden Chalice' stored at the WoS site. The one with the dreadul font, file name 'Chalise', does not appear to work.

You should download the TZX version where 'open door' does function.

Terri,

You need to wander into the Roggoth's lair, mount your horse and just head north and south which will then open up a whole new game area.

All the best,

Geoff
