Re: Gilsoft PAW/Quill

Thank you, the example works. My French keyboard is mapped differently, and it's just a nightmare to find the right combination of keys.
I guess I have to load the characters at the address 27356 proposed by the Quill, but I only get a blob of pixels on the screen. I'll try to find a solution...

Re: Gilsoft PAW/Quill

I'm trying to load UDG fonts into the Quill (ZX Spectrum), but I don't know how to do it. The UDG's This table, which is 168 bytes long, contains the User Defined Graphics The UDG's cannot be changed with the Editor but the address at which they start is given when The Quill is loaded. The UDG's can...

Re: Gilsoft PAW/Quill

A vocab word is just a word and can be placed in either position; so word _ is the same as _ word. I would have preferred to say that _ word is equivalent to _ _, but it amounts to the same thing. What advantages over the existing unQuill to Z-code route would that give? Presumably, as the unQuill ...

Re: Gilsoft PAW/Quill

The Quill Editor accepts the following entries: Verb Noun combination: (each word must be in the dictionary) word word word _ _ _ _ word (the word is skipped!) But I don't understand the point of the latter since the word is ignored. It's a pity because it would have been very useful. I'm finishing ...

Re: Land of the Giants (C64), Dorothy Millard

There seems to be a bug in the PAW A17C interpreter. Because of the forced line feed, there is a reverse video character that shouldn't be there. LOCATION 0 { "You are in a Huge Room in the Castle. There are doors to the {20}{1}WEST{20}{0} and {20}{1}SOUTH{20}{0}."; } You are in a Huge Room in the C...

Whether you have a ZX Spectrum Next or not, will not make this world better or worse.
You can kill Santa Claus (Père Noël), I never believed it.

Re: Land of the Giants (C64), Dorothy Millard

I'd love a Next but wouldn't have been able to afford one I was sure you already had one! Apply for a quick fundraiser and I will contribute. If I don't feel like a ZX Spectrum Next - Issue 2 for me, it would be my pleasure if you have one. With all the work and knowledge you have on the subject. D...

Re: Land of the Giants (C64), Dorothy Millard

Okay. Let's get back to the subject. Some errors found: - It is possible to examine the castle from anywhere, but especially the message 33 can never be displayed. >X CAST MESSAGE 15 "This is where the mean giant lives!" DONE >X CAST MESSAGE 33 "This is the castle where the giant lives." DONE - The ...

Re: Land of the Giants (C64), Dorothy Millard

I wrote games in BASIC that weren't published. I thought you were one of the few people who still have a critical mind when testing games, but maybe it's just that you're a little frustrated and cranky that you never had a game published when you were a kid! I myself had a game on ZX81, stupid and ...
