Re: Any French Speakers on here?

4K is a lot. The Dragon and the Troll is about 2K worth of C64 Basic code. So is Mickey & the Blot, which you can find on Gamebase 64. I was going from generics; for example the rewrite I did of the SAGA game system in 6502 is around 3K (though 1/2K is due to uncompressed system messages), with the...

Re: Vacation Gone Awry

I usually find this kind of story behind a game interesting when I find it about other people's games, so it's probably a good idea to put it in there.

Jim Bayers' game was the one that prompted us to change the title.

Re: Vacation Gone Awry

I don't know how to put it in a way that's appropriate for a synopsis text. Feel free to add it yourself if you like, or hand me a suggestion if you prefer. Maybe we can dig out the C64 game and release it at some point. As you may have guessed, it was called Stranded, and that was the title of the ...

Re: Vacation Gone Awry

It's complicated... We've discussed what year to put on the game. We designed and implemented it on the C64 in 1987-88, using an adventure authoring system which we created ourselves, called Rabies. We sent it out to testers, and had something kind of ready for release, but we felt that we needed to...

Oops. Once again, I didn't get any notifications about your posts, so it took me a while to see them. Congratulations on solving the game! Judging from the Swedish source code, the maximum score seems to be 335. On the other hand, you should only get the congratulations if you reach 335. Do you shar...

(Yeah, I know this thread is old, but CASA still seems to be in the same state as back then) The problem is, programming a web site takes *time*. And people don't have too much of that resouce these days. I recommend having a close look at Oracle Application Express. A monkey could learn to program ...

Okay, I found a simpler route, which I remember using several times and not having any trouble with.

Take the lift to the eighth floor. Then type:
R
B
R

You should always end up in the ZZZZ room, but you may have to try several times to get the desired effect.

Are you making progress now?

Getting back to ZZZZ room: Try this:

Take the lift to floor 1. Go right, then forward.

Now go right. If you don't end up in ZZZZ room, undo and try again. And again...

And when you do succeed, think of the poor people who played this before 2007, who didn't have undo.

What I meant was - solve other puzzles in Cottage, and hope that something you do makes the map change back to where you recongnize it. I think the map just changes between 2-3 different states.

You can check the hints about the vodka bottle in the game. Type HINT.

Sorry for not replying earlier. I got email notifications about your post on Aug 5, but I didn't get any email about your post on Aug 6. Hmm... Well, the map of the maze does change between a few different states, and I don't really know what makes it change. I found it possible to make a map which ...

Just let me stress again how unfair this game is, so you're not too afraid to resort to hints when you get terribly stuck. -------------- Begin extremely minor spoiler----------- There's a puzzle where you need to visit a certain location holding a certain object. Now that doesn't sound too unfair, ...

Announce: Cottage

I played a very minor role in the release of Cottage, a brand new English translation of the Swedish game Stuga. Stuga was first released in 1978, and this translation is based on the final mainframe version from 1982. Johan Ottosson did the translation. If you love a real challenge, and you love re...

A place for recommendations, and more

Just wanted to point you all at the fabulous new(-ish) site http://ifdb.tads.org It has been around for almost two years, and it has tons of useful information. It's an excellent place to post reviews of games, as well as recommendation lists. You can also create and read polls, which work much like...

Game suggestion: Werner's Quest series

Just a little hint for anyone looking for some fresh, old game to play, or perhaps looking for some old game for which there is no solution on the Solution Archive. There's an old game series ('85) called Werner's Quest, which is basically a spoof of Zork and some other games. It was made with the Q...
