Re: Lost Apple II commercial text adventure game
In response to the questions asked regarding the disks of "World of Odyssey": I will not mail them ever and nothing will be done until the covid crisis subsides [note that I made my original post on this game a few weeks before the worldwide covid lockdowns in 2020]. I need to find someone in the Se...

Re: One Step Beyond by Chiang Bros.
I had always wondered if this was a reissue of an old game with a different title. A tactic often done in the entertainment and publishing world. Now we know.

Re: One Step Beyond by Chiang Bros.
While filing some of the computer game documentation from my brother's estate today I found the retail package insert cover for the Apple II disk of "One Step Beyond" by the Chiang Brothers (1985 game). I have attached a picture of this. There is no other paperwork for this game.

One Step Beyond by Chiang Bros.
In 1985, Softalk Publications released an Apple II game called “One Step Beyond” by the Chiang Brothers as part of their Softdisk Rich ‘n Famous series. I have an original diskette of this graphics adventure game, but it is unlikely that it will play because of the way a now deceased person stored t...

Re: Saigon: The Final Days (Atari 400/800 & TRS-80)
Adventure-International did not port all of their games to every platform. For example, Interactive Fiction Series #2 and #3 were only on the TRS-80. Maces and Magic #1 ("Balrog") was also only on the TRS-80. Other Venture #1 ("Classic Adventure") was only on the Apple II. The actual catalogs of the...

Re: Lost Apple II commercial text adventure game
Thanks Garry, I got the files. Will check them out later. There were 6 Greg Hassett games on Apple II diskettes in the early 1980s (I still have diskette copies, but no way to run them). The 6 games were: Journey, House of 7 Gables, King Tut's Tomb, Sorcerer's Castle, Voyage to Atlantis, and Enchant...

Re: Lost Apple II commercial text adventure game
Garry: Thanks for your offer. I will send a PM. Do you know if "Curse of the Sasquatch" by Greg Hassett is the same as "Search for the Sasquatch" on the Apple II, also by Greg Hassett (according to one website which lists both by him). I never heard of this before. [I do not want to start a new thre...

Re: Lost Apple II commercial text adventure game
The game does work. I tried it again after my last post. I forgot to use the -ld function in the command line input for the trs80pg emulator. The game is in LDOS and not TRSDOS. Thus, ignore what I said in my last post. The game is working now.
Thank you very much for the link to the game.

Re: Lost Apple II commercial text adventure game
Thank you for the information about Mystery Mansion. I tried that site in the past and did not find it. However, I did find it just now after 3 search attempts. Unfortunately, that file is corrupted. In the TRS80gp emulator, when you get to the title page, an input command overwrites most of the low...

Re: Lost Apple II commercial text adventure game
Re Softside and Hassett: I am talking about emulator images on the internet, and not somebody's original diskettes in their attic (or such) (I have 2 diskettes as well, but cannot read them---my Apple II stopped working in the 1990s). Most of these games are not able to downloaded to play in either ...

Re: Lost Apple II commercial text adventure game
I don't know if you can get a printed listing of 'Will 'o the Wisp' from Nibble, but the actual executable game that can be run in Applewin is available in the disk library at the Nibble website (disk 2 of the complete set or the 1980 disk of the Stoddard collection). All of the Nibble programs on d...

Re: Lost Apple II commercial text adventure game
Regarding the comment in one of the mentioned magazines about the slowness of World of Odyssey: When I played the game on the Apple II, it was much faster than Lords of Karma (on disk). Also, I could not get World of Odyssey to run years later on the Apple IIe, but that may be because of the hardwar...

Re: Lost Apple II commercial text adventure game
Mark Capella is indeed listed at the top of the instructions page. I only used google to search for this game. I never used the archive for searches. Thanks for showing that to me. Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be any real reviews of this game. The game disappeared from the computer market ...

Lost Apple II commercial text adventure game
Probably the rarest commercially released (e.g. retail stores) text adventure game for the Apple II was Powersoft's 1979 release on diskette of "World of Odyssey" by Mark Capella. This game is not listed on any website or index of Apple II games, but it did come out because I bought it in 1981 and p...
