Games - SAGA (104 results)

SAGA is a term used to define the adventures written using Scott Adams' database format. The database has had multiple updates, so this can be expect to cover SACA (Scott Adams Classic Adventure), SAGA (Scott Adams Graphic Adventure) and SAGA+.

The original format was developed in BASIC on the TRS-80 (the program was subsequently published in the December 1980 issue of Byte magazine). The engine has been copied a number of times, and has allowed other authors to write games on multiple platforms.

There are multiple interpreters for the database files, including Alan Cox's Scottfree.

The TI-99/4A had a cartridge form of the engine (known as the Adventure Module), which allowed the game to be loaded as a datafile. An editor was then released, allowing development of home grown adventures.
