The ZX Spectrum Next was released as a development platform in 2017, with later "cased" releases in 2020 & 2021. It is a licensed FPGA-powered & enhanced version of the ZX Spectrum; capable of running old software and hardware, but with enough significantly enhanced capabilities to warrant its inclusion as a distinct platform.
Some of the text adventures available for the platform are showcased on the ZX Spectrum Next website. Adventures tagged Spectrum Next on CASA are games with additional ZX Spectrum Next features (such as graphics) that will not run on a traditional Spectrum.
