Synopsis

This game is set in the days of the Californian gold rush. You start out in the town of Deadwood. The clerk in the assay office offers you $1000 if you can find a large gold nugget, so you're determined to find one. You'll need to acquire supplies from the town before you set out, but you haven't got enough money to buy everything.

Notes

One of the first mentions of this game is in Clive Gifford's adventure column in issue 9 (November 1983) Dragon's Teeth fanzine. Clive mentions that he was sent in the game by reader Brian Beesley, commenting that it was "beautifully documented and is a pleasure to play". At the time Brian was looking for a commercial publisher for the game. It's unclear if this Dragon 32 version was made more widely available.

The 1985 Amstrad CPC version was published by Virgin Books as a BASIC type-in listing in Mysterious Adventures for your Amstrad, pp. 64-84. The game is quite buggy as printed. You can do silly things like load the mule onto itself and there is at least one bug that makes the game impossible to finish. See the solution for the fix for the latter or download the bug-fixed version.
