The room is cramped, yet filled with light. Consoles line the walls, displaying softly glowing readouts. The seats and kiosks are aimed at a large screen dominating one wall, though it shows nothing but black at the moment. Facing the screen, standing at the central control podium, is a man with brown hair and tanned skin, wearing a button-down shirt and slacks. He's older than you, 50 years or perhaps even 60, but still quite vigorous. Sprightly, even, but he even seems too young for that word.
"First mission, hmm?" he says, watching the black screen. A shudder runs through the room and it dips under your feet, prompting you to grab a handy metal railing. "Sorry," the man says, calmly keeping his place. "This mode of travel can be a bit bumpy at times. I'm sure you'll get the hang of it soon enough, rookie."
