One hundred years ago, a pirate ship sunk off the coast of Treasure Island. In this adventure, you have to find the treasure of a sunken Spanish galleon and return it to the proper place.
Originally programmed in BASIC for unexpanded VIC 20 in 1983. The original game was lost, but the author recreated it (from his handwritten notes) in 2020. The game can be downloaded here.
The C64 version dates from about 1985, according to the source code on the author's Twitter feed.
The Quill version is available for download here.
Scott writes:
The original source code for Sunken Treasure C64 version 1.0 was (BASIC code in 1984) released on the 13th January 1985. It was loosely based on the VIC 20 release of the same name but greatly expanded as the C64 simply had more memory.
There were several revisions made to Sunken Treasure over the years, the 1986 version 2.0 got an all-new title screen with sprite logo but the rest of the code reminded the same (this was submitted to PCG magazine for inclusion in an upcoming magazine but they folded before that happened). Version 2 was released and through Mailsoft Pty Ltd and sold via mail order and small outlets.
In 1987 I converted this adventure to The Quill. Only a few things were changed. The Quilled version was known as version 3.0 and was released and sold in Australia by Entertainment Software. This release also received a new bitmapped title screen.
