Synopsis

Plot

You play the role of John the Eunuch, Lord Chamberlain to the Roman Emperor Justinian. Senator Principio has been poisoned and the emperor has sent you to the late senator's house to retrieve some precious object thought to be hidden there. A member of the household tells you that the senator gasped '...in the mithraeum' as he lay dying. You are a secret Mithran, but was the senator? You have searched every room in the house except for the office and have seen no sign of a mithraeum or the mysterious precious object. Perhaps the two are connected...

Notes

John the Eunuch is the main character in One for sorrow by Mary Reed and Eric Mayer published by Poisoned Pen Press in 1999. This is the first in the series of John the Lord Chamberlain mystery novels. Look for the clever play-on-words and association with the publisher at the end of the game.
