Your foster parents had found a note with you - a strange note that they kept secret from you for all these years (mainly because they didn’t know what it meant and were afraid of what it said). It spoke of four stones the world with evil death.
It wasn't long before you learned that the stones were really four gems which unlocked the iron door to the mysterious tunnels of the Ancients, a long since disappeared race who once reigned in Hiperborea.
With the aid of a magical sword found in the vaults of the Ancients you succeeded in acquiring a magical cloak of invisibility which enabled you to flee Hiperborea by stowing away on a ship bound for the city of Agea.
For the first week the voyage went smoothly but then your luck abruptly changed - the cloak wasn’t working! For some reason the magic had worn off and now you were undone.
After some time you managed to make a deal with the captain. You would give him everything you had of value and you would work in the galley for the remainder of the voyage. Upon making port at Agea you would make yourself scarce and never be seen on the ship again.
Considering the deal better than the alternatives, you accepted the terms. All of your possessions (short of the cloak, which was now little more than a black piece of cloth) were taken from you and you worked in the galley for the next ten weeks.
Now the journey has finally come to an end. The ship has reached the small port of Agea and you are more than anxious to leave this god forsaken ship and get on with your life.
