You are a notorious Sneak-Thief, who had to leave home when things got a bit too hot. You have just blown into town, and you need some good connections, and a quick caper. Keeping your ear to the ground, you get a line on a good one! The Secret War Plans are hidden somewhere in the Palace, and somewhere in town is The Fence who will handsomely reward the one who brings him the plans. But, the story goes, The Fence has something you need to get the Plans, and you have to convince him that YOU are the right one to go after them. Bringing him a few of the local treasures would help a lot, but that alone may not be enough...
Note that honesty is NOT the best policy, and in order to succeed you had best be ready to lie, cheat, and steal (or whatever other underhanded tricks you can think up).

This obscure DOS offering is very large and rather good. You get to bribe lots of people, smash doors and walls down and steal umpteen treasures. Who said that these games don't reflect your real life? Have some of that hammer you rozzer...
I would be interested if anyone has or indeed can finish this game as I am stuck at the moment. I have managed to fence seventeen treasures and the idea is when you have fenced them all the man himself gives you information on how to steal some secret plans but I am stuck on thwe third floor unable to bypass or deactivate a mantrap.
Hmm I am beginning to wonder if the attic section on the third floor is bugged. You have a scenario with a non-takeable object in front of you which is only described as a "strange looking device" until you attempt to move north and then you are "squeezed to death in a mantrap."
Unfortunately at this point the snake that I dealt with some time ago far away reappears as if it were still alive and you can't interact with it and it is continually described as striking but missing. Fortunately it doesn't kill you as I am sure it isn't meant to show up here at all. At any rate I have tried every method I can think of to move north but no luck; I am guessing there is the eighteenth treasure lurking somewhere nearby. The game understands "crown" so I imagine that is the one I need.
Darren Higgs and myself have stumbled upon a number of bugs in this game; ostensibly it seems ok but there are some items like the ivory carving (Darren's discovery) that only appear if you go straight to the attic after bribing the first guard. Delay and you will never find it. This is aside from the charmed snake that reappears in the attic if you carry the flute here. Obviously a conditional flag is incorrectly set.
The pepper is meant to disable the second guard so that you can get the crown but it seems impossible to manipulate the pepper shaker to achieve this.
It is a shame as there is a pretty good puzzlefest in here but it clearly wasn't play tested.
