You have no doubt heard of the strange creatures which inhabit its foul interior. However, you must now venture through its sinister darkness in order to reach your home village!
I agree with you Fred. I thought I'd knock this one out pretty quickly but I sorely underestimated its difficulty. Some esoteric verbs are understood such as APPLAUD and SCRATCH. I have only managed 5 per cent so far. It still has some way to go though to match Quondam in the obscure parser Olympics.
My habitual failing of missing exits resurfaced and now I have opened up another large portion of the map. Those hankering for a well-constructed cave crawl could do a lot worse than give this a go. The author certainly put the "cut" in Cuthbert as his mortal remains are scattered all over the place.
Hmmm there is an annoying contrivance in this game. You can swim back and forth across a river with a finite number of objects; however, it seem after moving eight objects across there is some kind of flag which means you always drown thereafter even when swimming with everything dropped. I presume this means you have to know which objects not to take south across the river with you. There is a way to teleport yourself back north of the river but as far as I can see you have to travel back across the river using Shanks's Pony.
There is a baffling puzzle left over from the north of the river section. You meet a yellow dragon in a maze who smiles, flaps his wings and asks: "When is an accountant?"
It also appears that if you fill the bucket with water you can't subsequently drop it without emptying it first; if you drop the sunflower seeds you can't pick them up again neither. I am presuming these are bugs but I hope not in a game-breaking way.
Poor St Cuthbert. It is cut into 15 pieces... it take a lot of time to grab them all. A good game.
