Synopsis

An underground cave system is rumoured to contain fabulous treasures and a selection of refugees from low-grade horror movies who took up residence after the original owners moved out, along with similar beings from Tolkien and suchlike. Your mission is to become as rich as possible by collecting treasures. You gain points by collecting the treasures and bringing them to the designated collection point (the well-house).

Notes

According to the later MS-DOS version of the game, Cave Adventure was originally written in BASIC on the Commodore 64 in the early 1980s and was later rewritten in C for the Amiga and MS-DOS computers.

The C version of the game was ported to the Cybiko (with minimal graphics added) by Athlor.

Has anyone ever got this running under DOS? I have never been able to manage it. The .zoo file seems intractable.

Canalboy, there are a number of Zoo archivers listed at http://fileformats.archiveteam.org/wiki/Zoo

Yes I tried a couple last week to no avail. I'll have another look when I am home next week.

Annoyingly this game has no save facility. Anyone who has the patience to keep restarting every time death or a hard or softlock strikes has my admiration.
