Synopsis

Plot

Four of the Sun's eight rays (I guess that's a spectrum! -ed) have been stolen by the Moon Raydiator, in retaliation against the proposed marriage of his daughter Diana to the Sun god. By dawn tomorrow you must find and restore these four rays or the Sun will not shine. If the doesn't shine then this will be the end of all life. That makes your task rather important!

Notes

In its released form this game is similar (and almost identical) to The Yellow Door.

However, it was initially quite a different game that received a very negative review by Keith Campbell in Computer and Video Games magazine issue 66, April 1987. The game seems to have been heavily reworked based on this feedback.

The only difference to the Yellow Door Adventure is at the beginning:
(you start in the middle of a desert), N (or S or E or W) (you see the Sun God in his bronze chariot) - now you can proceed according to Dorothy Millard's Yellow Door solution.

That's not quite true... but that's because this page covers two distinct games. The original version of Rays is not archived.

The later version of Rays, which is almost identical to Yellow Door, aside from the differences you mention is the one that is currently in the Spectrum archives.
