Labyrinths Of Lacoshe was covered in quite a lot of detail in the Mad Hatter's adventure column in the June, July, and August issues of The Micro User magazine in 1988: https://themadhattercolumn.wordpress.com/2014/12/24/june-1988/

A poor game. The parser is excruciating; it turns its lack of verbs / nouns back on the user with a continual "are you making fun of me?" reply which you have to answer yes or no. If you reply "yes" the game ends. NE, SE, SW and NW elicit no response whatsoever. The location descriptions are terse and unimaginative.

I am not surprised that the author's name is not included.

There are many much better games available for the BBC emulators out there.

Labyrinths of LaCoshe is one of those really annoying games where most of the difficulty comes through the awful parser. I spent several hours trying to work out how to progress beyond the initial few forest locations; I guessed I had to enter the waterfall but nothing worked. I make no apologies for spoiling this "puzzle" - you have to type "through waterfall." Eh? That well-known verb "through?" "Go waterfall," "enter waterfall," or any far more logical two word constructs fail.

When the first puzzle of a game throws up such a dreadful abuse of the english language the sensibly minded player is moved to wonder what other horrific language abuses lie in wait ahead of him. Whatever creatures / dangers lurk beyond the waterfall I doubt if any are as scary as that. This kind of lazy obfuscation reminds me of the Arctic adventure games where such systematic parser abuses as "switch switch" "talk kastaman" and "point sonic" still haunt my memories.

There appears to be a flagrant bug in the .ssd version downloaded from the BBC archive (093). After killing the cyclops it is impossible to enter the hole in the south wall. Indeed if you leave the cyclops room and return either from the skeleton room or the thief's lair the hole has disappeared. Indeed even looking in the room without leaving it causes it to vanish from the room's description and the game is now unwinnable with full points.

I have tried another version of the .ssd file and Ffollowing some suggestions on the Stardot forum I have tried the uef file version from Stairway to Hell but the bug is present in all three versions.

The bug that makes the cyclops hole disappear the move after it is created is evident on all .ssd versions and the .uef version as well and is replicated on all emulators too. This maked me wonder how anyone ever finished the game without doctoring the source code.

Canalboy, just a thought but perhaps you're not supposed to kill the cyclops. Or perhaps you have to do something else first.

You could well be right; apart from its obvious Zork plagiarisms I haven't come across too many bugs although interestingly one of the few typos in the game is in this area of the game too. I am wondering if this portion was coded after a hard day's night.
