Synopsis

While sailing through the Bay of Beura, your ship was caught in a terrible storm and you were ship-wrecked on a small beach at the foot of a snow-capped mountain. You seek shelter from the storm in a small cave and curl up to sleep.

When you awake, you find a tall, handsome elf in the cave. He asks for your help to defeat the evil God Eldritch. Only a human from the Ice Kingdom (such as yourself) can craft a magic bow that can be used to defeat the evil God Eldritch. You must craft the bow and return it to the elf and you will be rewarded with wealth beyond your imagination.

Notes

Originally written in 1988 by Alias Maximus for the ZX Spectrum (presumably also with the Quill). The Spectrum version appears to have been unpublished.

In October 1992, the original game was ported and updated for the Atari 400/800/XL/XE by Alias Maximus and John E using AdventureWriter. It was published in The Grim Reaper, issue 7, January 1993.

An updated, bug-fixed version was produced by John E in August 1993; this is the edition that is archived on Atarimania.

The game was later included on the five adventure Aura Adventures public domain compilation disk (disk 251) consisting of The Island, The Bow of Beura, The Breath of Life (Part 1), Corsair! and Atlantis.

Note: Disable BASIC before running the game.

A short and fairly straightforward fantasy quest comprising around thirty locations. A tight four item inventory limit. An unusual annoyance early on is the repeated long screen dumps featuring supposedly funny conversations between the programmers and an adventurer. Mercifully these go away once you make some progress into the game.
