In this first case, Dr. Van Halen, recommended by the famous detective Sherlock Holmes, is invited to investigate the strange events around the Cathedral of Le Nebleau, in France. Throughout the adventure we will discover Dr. Van Halen's own past and his love story with Hellen, which will be the central axis of the saga.
The original idea of The Extraordinary Cases of Dr. Van Halen: Mystery in the Cathedral starts in 1996. For various reasons, the project was abandoned and archived. The project was taken up again in 2004 and finally finished. The extraordinary cases of Dr Van Halen are intended to be a collection of small adventures in 48k Spectrum emulator format and a single load, starring Dr. Van Halen, expert in occult sciences, adventurer and researcher of the supernatural.
Differences between Spectrum and Glulx versions: The original version was programmed for Spectrum 48k with an emulator. The Glulx version was programmed in Superglús shortly after the Spectrum version appeared. The structure of the game and puzzles does not vary from one version to another, but in the Glulx version the texts have been enlarged and the original illustrations have been replaced by black and white photographs. So far this is the only adventure of the saga that has appeared in a format other than Spectrum.
