As Inspector Black of Scotland Yard you find yourself in your office. The telephone rings and you are summoned to Crowley Manor where Lord Crowley has been murdered in a quite gruesome manner. (Being pedantic, the telephone will ring and you will be summoned, as these events take place as you play the game.)
The NEC TREK version was published by NEC themselves.
The Atari version was published by Adventure International (USA) in 1981. This can be identified by the "Curse of Crowley Manor" title and 1981 copyright date on the title screen, and the abbreviated room descriptions. It was then published by Adventure International (UK) in 1982. This can be identified by the "Crowley Manor" title and 1982 copyright date on the title screen, and the slightly longer room descriptions. After Adventure International went bust, the original version was published by Prism Leisure under the 'A1' label in 1986.
Jim Gerrie has created a version of the game for the TRS-80 MC-10.
