The land is fraught with peril and danger, but thou art undaunted, for thou art a hero of great renown. Thou roam the land, seeking quests to undertake, and those in need of aid. Thou art a beacon of hope, a shining light in the darkness, and thou will make right what wrongs exist in this realm. The fate of the kingdom rests on thy shoulders, and thou must not falter in thy quest to bring peace and prosperity to the land. May God watch over thee on thy journey, and may thou emerge victorious in battles against the forces of darkness that threaten to consume the realm.

Venture forth into a world brimming with over a hundred places, each graced with its own unique depiction. Here, thou shalt encounter riddles wrapped in enigma, labyrinths that twist and turn, felled beasts of legend, and secrets that beckon the curious soul. In this land of myth and mystery, something shall surely stir thy spirit and call thee to adventure.

Notes

Kingdom of the Seven Stones uses the full capacity of an 8Mb Marina64 cartridge to squeeze the game into a single cartridge. This size of game would historically require three double-sided diskettes to fit the entire game. Even with the Marina64 cartridge’s generous capacity, the game still requires extensive compression to fit all of the graphics, game logic, songs, and the extensive interactive text and scenarios into the single loadable cartridge. The game supports both PAL and NTSC display regions.

Trying to flog Interactive Fiction these days is a brave move.

The game can also be bought as a digital copy from the site of the author https://robinra.itch.io/kingdom-of-the-seven-stones

Good looking game, but as slow as a snail while loading graphics. This took me out the game. I though cartridge format means quick loading... But you have the feeling you're playing with a floppy disk game.

A new revision E update for the game runs much faster (as it avoids bank copies that were originally required). The use of the cartridge was not as much for speed as it was for storage capacity well beyond a diskette. Even with 1MB of space, extensive compress is still used for the text and the graphics to fit the game into the cartridge. Decompression is where any slowness happens, and it's faster than comparable disk based games (as it has to bank between text, graphics, and extended logic routines).

Revision E loads must faster even if turning the pictures off give you a better performance. Will try to dive into it once again.
