Please note: We haven't used the 
GRAIN with the CAGE to get the BIRD. 
The BIRD is used to navigate the firedamp 
mine - the bird stops singing when you 
are 1 move from death. The bird enables 
you to find the machine with the WRENCH 
in it. TAKE WRENCH and the machine goes 
from "not running" to "running". Now 
you can goto all areas of the mine. Later 
on we need to THROW WRENCH to stop the 
machine and escape the mace guard...

You can go north here, but it seems there 
is only a 1 room maze. i.e. drop something 
and try to go N E or W. You are at the 
same place. Go S get back to the high chamber. 
We need to get some more garlic for the 
next section, Castle Desmodus - to ward of 
the vampire!

into a maze and emerge back at the pothole

All hell is going to break loose now. 
We need to leg it back to the firedamp 
mine and put the wrench back to stop 
the machine and cause an explosion that 
kills the mace guard...

huge explosion, the mine is blocked by 
rubble now and impassable - but the mace 
guard troubles us no more. 
The next part is getting the mace out of 
the underground section. Another maze dodge 
is required to get us out and avoid the 
guard in the tower from killing us....

This was the last hurdle. You are at one 
side of the dry canyon. The troll automatically 
kills you if you carry the mace. You must 
throw the mace across the canyon and collect 
it on the other side. (at the location you 
originally picked the JUG up!)
