FOREST OF DOOM - solution by Liviu Vilceanu
Unlike most text adventures, FOREST OF DOOM doesn't require you to type WEST, ATTACK TROLL, or
whatever. Instead, you will have to choose an option: 1 - GO WEST, 2 - GO EAST etc. Yet I preferred
to write the solution the way I did because it's easier to follow than something like: "2
- 3 - 1 - 1 - 2" (I think you'll agree). I have only mentioned the places where you have
to choose among two or more options. You may want to speed up the emulator at about 400%, because
text rendering in this game is kinda slow.
The solution to this nice adventure is:
FOLLOW YAZTROMO - SELECT ITEMS: 26 (plant control potion), 31 (ring of light), 33 (rope of
climbing), 35 (entanglement net), 41 (headband of concentration), 42 (fire capsules) - WEST - NORTH
- LOOK THROUGH WINDOW - ENTER HUT - DRAW SWORD - SEARCH HUT - PICK UP BOOK (1st rune) - REACH UP -
PUT HELMET ON - EAST - EAST - EAST - START A CONVERSATION - ACCEPT OFFER (if not, you will lose one
meal) - EAST - ENTER CAVE - TAKE OUT NET (2nd rune) - WEST - WEST - WEST - NORTH - RUB MUD ON YOUR
WOUNDS - FOLLOW ARROW - EAT GREEN FUNGUS - LOOK INSIDE BARREL - TAKE SHIELD - OPEN CHEST (3rd rune)
- CONTINUE CLIMBING - CLIMB UP TO THE ROOF - EAST - PUSH DWARF OFF THE LOG - FACE BEAST - RUB
LANTERN (4th rune) - here, you can HURRY NORTH; if you LOOK CLOSELY, you will have to fight a wyvern
(hard to beat); after that you can TAKE GAUNTLET (it will make you stronger, but isn't needed
to finish), then NORTH - here you will face some bandits; you should have at this point 7 gold coins
to GIVE them, or you can FIGHT your way out - and you've finished!
NOTE: this is only the minimum you'll have to do to complete the game, but FOREST OF DOOM is
much more complex and there are lots of things to discover.
