MERLIN'S GOLDEN TROVE

Scenario: 
You must search for the many gold treasures left by Merlin over a thousand years ago, taking them
back outside the castle and typing SCORE.

Treasures:

A small gold key.

A shining
gold skull.

A tarnished gold shovel.

A brilliant gold crucifix.

(Start outside the castle), INVENTORY (you are carrying nothing), READ SIGN (says "Bring gold
here and say SCORE"), S, S (across the drawbridge into a dusty courtyard), E, S, GET SHOVEL,
EXAMINE SHOVEL, DIG (you find a gold ring), GET RING, EXAMINE RING (note it is covered in magic
symbols), S (into horse stall), GET dead FLIES, EXAMINE FLIES (leave the twig), DIG, GET gold
FEATHER, EXAMINE FEATHER, N, N (to northeastern corner of yard), DIG, GET golden APPLE, EXAMINE
CATAPULT (you see a gold bar), GET BAR, EXAMINE BAR, W (by drawbridge), DIG, GET golden ORB, EXAMINE
ORB, N, N (to outside castle), DROP ORB, DROP APPLE, DROP FEATHER, DROP BAR (keep the shovel and
ring for now), SCORE (18%).

D (into moat), GET FROG (note you must be carrying the flies), U (to drawbridge), S, S (into great
hall), U (you are upstairs in the castle), S, EXAMINE MIRROR, MOVE MIRROR (it slides aside revealing
an open doorway), W (into musician's gallery - leave the flute until later), GET SCROLL,
EXAMINE SCROLL, E, READ SCROLL (as you speak the magic words there is a loud snap as some powerful
magic is released and the door to the south swings open), DROP SCROLL, S (into Merlin's study),
GET gold SKULL, EXAMINE SKULL, EXAMINE TABLE (instructions on how to bring the stone statue of the
gargoyle to life), EXAMINE crystal BALL (there's a deep mist within the crystal.... you find
yourself in a bright misty room), GET gold VIAL, EXAMINE VIAL (it contains a clear blue potion), GET
magic BEANS, EXAMINE BEANS, EXAMINE ROOM (the mist disappears and you find yourself back in
Merlin's study), N, N, D (to great hall), GET gold PLATTER, EXAMINE PLATTER, N, N (to
drawbridge where you meet a mean and ugly troll who is barring your way), EXAMINE TROLL, DRINK VIAL
(you feel stronger), KILL TROLL (you throw him in the moat), N (to outside castle), DROP VIAL, DROP
SKULL, DROP PLATTER, SCORE (27%).

S, S (to courtyard), S, S (into kitchen), EXAMINE POT (you see some hard cheese), GET CHEESE,
EXAMINE CHEESE, N, N, E, S, U (to hay loft), GET MOUSE (note you must be carrying the cheese), D, N,
U (to northeast tower), W (to front battlement where there is a gargoyle with a wand in it's
mouth), GET WAND (it's stuck in the tightly clenched jaws - remember what you were told in
Merlin's Study), EXAMINE GARGOYLE, WEAR RING, PUT FROG ON GARGOYLE, RUB RING (the gargoyle
comes to life and flies off, dropping the wand), GET WAND, EXAMINE WAND, W (to northwest tower), GET
FLINT, EXAMINE FLINT, S (to west side battlements), GET CAT (note you must be carrying the mouse),
EXAMINE CAT, S (to southwest tower), EXAMINE MORTAR, GET MORTAR (it crumbles but you now have an
iron key), E (to battlement), GET gold VASE, EXAMINE VASE, E (to southeast tower - ignore the candy
wrapper), N (to east battlement), EXAMINE stone VASE, GET gold CRUCIFIX, EXAMINE CRUCIFIX, N (to
northeast tower), D, W, N, N (to outside castle), DROP CRUCIFIX, DROP VASE, DROP RING, SCORE (36%).

S, S, S (into great hall), EXAMINE TAPESTRY (you slide it across to reveal a western door), W (top
of flight of steps), GET TORCH, EXAMINE TORCH, LIGHT TORCH (using the flint), DROP FLINT, D (the
dungeon steps to where the cat runs off chased by the snarling hound which was here), S, S (into
torture chamber), LAY on BED (a trap door opens and you fall into the burial pit), EXAMINE SKELETON,
GET gold KNIFE, DIG (you find a gold nugget), GET NUGGET, EXAMINE NUGGET, PLANT BEANS (they grow
into a beanstalk which reaches up to the opening), CLIMB BEANSTALK (back to the torture chamber), N,
N, U, E (into great hall), N, W (to northwest corner), EXAMINE WINCH, DIG, GET gold CANDLESTICK,
EXAMINE CANDLESTICK, S (to southwest corner - leave the cow's horn), DIG (you find a solid gold
egg), GET EGG, EXAMINE EGG, N, E, N, N (to outside castle), DROP NUGGET, DROP SHOVEL, DROP
CANDLESTICK, DROP EGG, DROP KNIFE, SCORE (48%).

S, S, S, W, D (the dungeon steps), S, S, GET magic SWORD, EXAMINE SWORD, N, E (to top of steps), D
(into catacombs), GET gold MEDALLION, EXAMINE MEDALLION, S, S, E, N (you meet a huge fire-breathing
dragon), KILL DRAGON (using the magic sword), N (into alchemists' crypt), GET gold KEY, EXAMINE
KEY, GET gold TABLET, READ TABLET (it tells you how to deal with the goblin), S, W, N (an ugly
goblin bars the way), WAVE WAND (the goblin turns to stone), U (the steps), W, W (into a stone
cell), GET brass KEY, EXAMINE KEY, E, N, U (the steps), E, N, N, N (to outside castle), DROP SWORD,
DROP MEDALLION, DROP TABLET, DROP WAND, SCORE (60%).

S, S, S (into great hall), U, S, W (to musician's gallery), GET FLUTE, EXAMINE FLUTE, E, UNLOCK
DOOR (using the brass key), DROP BRASS KEY, E (into king's bedchamber where a large purple
snake is coiled ready to strike), PLAY FLUTE (the snake slithers off), GET SCEPTRE, EXAMINE SCEPTRE,
EXAMINE CHEST, UNLOCK CHEST (using the gold key - it contains a bag of gold coins), GET COINS,
EXAMINE COINS, LAY on BED, GET LOCKET, EXAMINE LOCKET, U, W, N, D (to great hall), N, E, U, U (to
bell tower), GET gold BELL, EXAMINE BELL, D, D, W, N, N (to outside castle), DROP FLUTE, DROP
LOCKET, DROP COINS, DROP SCEPTRE, DROP BELL, SCORE (75%).

S, S, S, W (to top of steps), D, S, S (to torture chamber), EXAMINE RACK, EXAMINE iron MAIDEN,
UNLOCK MAIDEN (using the iron key), DROP IRON KEY, S (into iron maiden), EXAMINE SPIKES (suddenly
the back swings around and you find yourself in a hidden room), GET CROWN, PUSH NORTH WALL (it
swings around and you are back in the iron maiden), N, W (into a death cell), GET gold TOOTH,
EXAMINE TOOTH, E, N, N, W (to armoury), GET LANCE, EXAMINE LANCE, GET SHIELD, EXAMINE SHIELD, E, E
(to guard's quarters), GET ARROW, EXAMINE ARROW, GET BATTLEAXE, EXAMINE BATTLEAXE, W, U, E (to
great hall), N, N, N (to outside castle), DROP KEY, DROP LANCE, DROP SHIELD, DROP BATTLEAXE, DROP
