1. Introduction
===============================================================================
1942 Mission is an interactive fiction adventure written by Tom D. Frost and
released by CCS in 1984. You are a British Agent in the year 1942 and have just
been given orders for your next mission. The aim is to parachute into a German
camp in order to escape with the secret rocket fuel plans. 1942 Mission is a
well written game featuring lots of locations and some clever puzzles.

2. Walkthrough
===============================================================================
BEFORE TAKEOFF
--------------
The game starts in the briefing room. GET BOOTS. WEAR BOOTS. Move NORTH to the
supply stores. GET KNIFE. GET POLISH. GET TROWEL. Move EAST to the guardroom.
GET PHOTO. Move SOUTH twice to the flight office. GET PARACHUTE. Move EAST and
SOUTH to the billet. REMOVE BOOTS. DROP BOOTS. GET SHOES. WEAR SHOES. Move
NORTH and WEST twice to the airfield. WEAR PARACHUTE. Move SOUTH into the
aircraft, which then takes off. GET TORCH. Move DOWN to the German camp.
GERMAN CAMP
-----------
DIG HOLE using the trowel. REMOVE PARACHUTE. BURY PARACHUTE. DROP TROWEL.
BLACKEN FACE using the polish. Move SOUTH, EAST twice and SOUTH twice to the
garage. SAY SCOTCH to the guard to get a pass. INSERT PHOTO into the pass. Move
NORTH twice, WEST twice, SOUTH twice and EAST to the general office.
CLOSE DOOR. GET BOOK. OPEN BOOK to read that the plans are in a safe under the
study floor. TURN PAGE of the book twice to see three numbers: The numbers are
usually 101, but occasionally different different numbers will be on the page.
DROP BOOK. Move WEST, SOUTH, UP, EAST and SOUTH to the chemical store. CUT ROPE
with the knife. GET LADDER. Move DOWN, NORTH, WEST twice, SOUTH twice, WEST
twice, SOUTH and EAST to the study. LIFT CARPET to see a trapdoor. OPEN
TRAPDOOR. EXTEND LADDER. LOWER LADDER. DROP KNIFE. Move DOWN to the cellar.
LIGHT TORCH. DIAL 1010 on the safe. If the number on the book was different to
101, SAVE the game and then keep trying the numbers that were given in the book
plus different variations of a fourth number. For example, if the number was
789, try 7890, 7891, 7892, etc. RESTORE the game after every third attempt
until the safe opens. GET PLANS. CLOSE SAFE. TURN DIAL. EXTINGUISH TORCH. Move
UP to the study. CLOSE TRAPDOOR. REPLACE CARPET. Move WEST, SOUTH and EAST to
the lecture hall. GET COAT. Move SOUTH and EAST twice, DOWN and EAST to the
cloakroom. GET SOAP. WASH FACE with the soap. WEAR COAT. Move WEST, SOUTH twice
and EAST twice to the guard room entrance. SHOW PASS to complete the game.

3. Item List
===============================================================================
BEER
Found in the canteen. It can be drunk to give 100 energy points, although
this should not be done as guards will be able to find you in the camp.
BISCUITS
Found in the store room. They can be given to the dog in the kennels so that
the collar can be taken.
BOOK
Found in the general office after the door has been closed. It can be read to
discover that the safe with the plans is in a cellar under the study floor.
Turn the page twice to find the first three digits of the code. Turn the page
again to find that the fourth number is on a dog collar.
BOOTS
Found in the briefing room. They are worn so that you can leave the briefing
room. They are removed in the billet.
BULLETS
Found in the flight office. They are not used.
COAT
Found in the lecture hall. It is worn in the cloakroom.
COLLAR
Found on the dog in the kennels after the biscuits have been given to him. It
is read to find the fourth number of the safe combination.
DYNAMITE
Found in the armoury. It is not used.
GLASS
Available after drinking the beer. It is not used.
GUN
Found in the armoury. It is not used.
JACKET
Found in the billet. It is not used.
KNIFE
Found in the supply stores. It is used to cut the rope in the chemical store
so that the ladder can then be taken.
LADDER
Found in the chemical store after the rope has been cut with the knife. After
the trapdoor has been opened in the study, the ladder is extended and then
lowered into the trapdoor.
MATCHES
Found in the records office on the upper landing. They are not used.
PARACHUTE
Found in the flight office. It is worn before entering the aircraft. After
landing in the field in the German camp, the parachute is removed. After the
trowel has been used to dig a hole in the field, the parachute is buried in
the hole.
PASS
Found by saying SCOTCH to the German guard in the garage. The photograph is
put in the pass. It is shown to the guard at the end of the game.
PHOTOGRAPH
Found in the guardroom. It is inserted into the pass.
PLANS
Found in the safe in the cellar. They are needed to complete the game.
POLISH
Found in the supply stores. It is used to blacken your face after landing in
the German camp to prevent being spotted by the guards.
RIFLE
Found in the armoury. It is not used.
SANDWICHES
Found in the kitchen. It can be eaten for 50 energy points.
SOAP
Found in the cloakroom. It is used to wash your face before leaving the camp.
SHOES
Found in the billet. After the boots have been removed, the shoes are found
in the billet and are then worn.
TORCH
Found inside the aircraft. It is used to provide light in the cellar.
TROWEL
Found in the supply stores. It is used to dig a hole in the field after
landing in the German camp.
