Underworld of Kin (Underworld_of_Kyn.txt)

Underworld of Kyn
Written by Andrew Farrell
Walk Through by Dorothy Millard (C64 Version)

Notes
1. There is no save facility, unless playing under emulation.
2. The character set is very hard to read. CHAR will give the normal set.
3. If the wizard casts a spell you will find yourself in a random location,
just return and continue where you left off.

Walk Through
(Start in chamber of light), W (skeleton cave where a large mushroom hidden
amongst the shadows suddenly comes to life), GET TORCH, S, N (Morloch's
pass), GET SOCK (old wet sock), S, W (back to skeleton cave where the
mushroom is blocking all but one exit), GIVE SOCK (the mushroom grabs his
wet sock and returns to the shadows), N (junction), EXAMINE STONE (marble
stone of Raxon - it has a large hole in the centre the size and depth of the
silver sword of Kahn… the word "kazat" is inscribed beneath), N (imperial
north cave), GET VASE, EXAMINE VASE, READ LABEL (anti-wizard potion - just
add water), N (small hollow where a sword is embedded in the cave wall), SAY
KAZAT (it falls to the ground), GET SWORD, W, S, S, E (curvy room), FILL
VASE (with water - it now contains a potent mixture of water and magic
powder… when you next meet the wizard), THROW VASE AT WIZARD (he turns into
a mouse and disappears into a nearby crack).

W, S, E (round cave containing a large man-eating plant), KILL PLANT WITH
SWORD (it writhes in pain and shrivels into a harmless weed), N (glumpy
corner), GET PLANKS, W, W, N, E, E (small cavern), N (wizard's study), GET
LANTERN, E (oil room), FILL LANTERN (with oil), W (back to study), READ BOOK
(mentions a large furnace capable of destroying the wizard's crystal - note
only read the book once or you will be zapped), S (small cavern), EXAMINE
WALLS (a secret passage), GO PASSAGE (glumpy corner), W, W, N, N, W (chamber
of light), N, N, LIGHT LANTERN WITH TORCH (note you must do this before the
torch goes out), DROP TORCH, N (west of canyon).

PLANKS, S, W, S, E, S, W (Persian chamber), GET ROPE, N, N, N, E (across the
repaired bridge), E, E (Brandell's grotto), GET SILK, N, S (queen's room), W
(king's dungeon - note if you GO CHAIR or GO RUG you are transported
randomly to another location but mostly to the sandstone hallway), EXAMINE
STONE (big), SAY OPEN SESAME (you hear a muffled grinding as the huge stone
slowly moves revealing a tunnel south - don't go south yet), GET TABLE, W
(sandstone hallway), W (moloch's pass), S, W, N, N (imperial north cave),
DROP TABLE, CLIMB TABLE (you slip and fall but dislodge the dark crystal of
evil), GET CRYSTAL (it's too powerful to carry with your bare hands), WRAP
CRYSTAL WITH SILK, GET CRYSTAL.

S, E (temple of Baal), N, E, E, N, S, W (King's dungeon), S (secret exit),
DROP SWORD, DROP ROPE (you can only enter carrying a limited amount), S
(vertical shaft), EXAMINE SHAFT (there's a furnace below), THROW CRYSTAL
(you hear a loud explosion from the furnace below… the last traces of evil
vanish), N, GET ROPE, S, THROW ROPE (it catches on a protruding rock high in
the shaft above), CLIMB DOWN (to hall of eternity - don't examine the Lord
yet), GET WIRE (stiff), CLIMB DOWN (vertical shaft), N, N, W, W (Morloch's
pass), S.

W (skeleton cave), CLIMB DOWN (the grill is closed), OPEN GRILL (it's
locked), PICK LOCK (with the stiff wire) DROP WIRE, OPEN GRILL, CLIMB DOWN
(bottom of pit), GET SCEPTRE, CLIMB GRILL (to get out back to skeleton
cave), N, E, N, E, E, N, S, W, S, S (vertical shaft), CLIMB DOWN (hall of
eternity), N (the Lord demands a gift for your freedom), GIVE SCEPTRE TO
LORD (he is pleased with your gift… you have done well… he says "I grant
your freedom to live and play part 2"… the room in which you stand slowly
fades into the dull surroundings of your home… a voice can be heard from
deep within the caves, beckoning you to yet another adventure).

THE END
