Sugarcube By Gary Fitton Solution by David Lodge Proclaimed as the "first mini-adventure", the only version that can be found runs on an Archimedes, but is written in simple BBC BASIC which doesn't even attempt to use the Archimedes features. The parse can be a bit picky: commands have to be entered in upper case and it doesn't support shortening of movement to a single level. We start at the beginning of the quest, in a room so titled. Go NORTH and EAST. GET the TOOTHPICK we see on the floor and carry on NORTH. Here we can CLIMB BOX for a hint for later. Go NORTH again and GET POISON. Then head WEST, SOUTH and WEST to where a fly is stopping us continuing. THROW TOOTHPICK, at FLY to kill the fly, then we can continue WEST, WEST and GET GUN. Head back EAST, SOUTH, SOUTH and SOUTH to get to a vast exspanse [sic] of water. POUR POISON to kill the goldfish and continue SOUTH, then GET MATCH. Head back NORTH, NORTH, NORTH, NORTH, EAST, EAST. LIGHT MATCH and head NORTH, NORTH to find our way stopped by a giant rat. If you read the hint on the cornflake box, we know that we can BURN RAT to get rid of it. Head WEST and NORTH to get to the sugar bowl and the golden sugar cube. GET CUBE, at the moment it is too big to be of use, but if we EXAMINE GUN we see that it is a "super shrinker gun". SHOOT CUBE and EAT CUBE to finish!
