DEVIL'S PALACE

(Start in a dark forest), S, CLIMB TREE, EXAMINE NEST, GET WHISTLE, D, N (cobblestone pathway),
EXAMINE COBBLESTONE (see writing), READ COBBLESTONE (magic word ETNAD), E, GET VINE, E (by huge moat
of lava with a drawbridge leading to a palace on the other side), BLOW WHISTLE (drawbridge lowers),
CROSS DRAWBRIDGE (an evil force throws you back), S (rocky clearing), TIE VINE (to what?) TO BOULDER
(one end hangs over a pit to the east), E (tar pit), GET FOSSIL, GET EGG, W (using the vine to pull
yourself out), D (small depression), GET BONES, EXAMINE BONES (find a scroll), EXAMINE SCROLL (see
writing), READ SCROLL (translates to INSERT FOSSIL), U, N, W, W, W, N (clearing), FEED CERBERUS
(eats the bone and runs off - you now see an iron grate from which you will emerge at the end of the
game).

S, S, CLIMB TREE, BLOW WHISTLE (note you must have lowered the drawbridge first... a vulture swoops
down and carries you over the drawbridge where he drops you... you roll into a tall dark room), BLOW
WHISTLE (floor rises), GET TORCH, OPEN DOOR (locked), KNOCK DOOR (it flies open, the floor tilts and
you slide into the palace), EXAMINE CARVING (of prehistoric animals), INSERT FOSSIL (a Ming statue
of a cat appears), DROP FOSSIL, GET STATUE, EXAMINE STATUE (made by Mimi), RUB STATUE (it dissolves
and a beautiful winged cat takes its place... it carries you across the stream to a precarious
ledge), EXAMINE LEDGE (the floor resembles cobblestone), SAY ETNAD (the ledge spins and you find
yourself in (d)ante chamber), N (glowing room), READ WRITING (directions for the labyrinth), S.

E, E (Hellish Corridor - leave the red acrylic), S, E (balcony), EXAMINE RAILING (one of the
spindles is covered with fingerprints), TURN SPINDLE (the balcony slides alongside the palace), W, N
(kitchen), EXAMINE SHELF, GET TINSNIPS, S (dining hall), GO TABLE (on top of dining table where you
see a duct covered by mesh), CUT MESH (with tinsnips), DROP TINSNIPS, GO DUCT (devil's sitting
room), GET CROWN, N (back to dining hall), E (balcony), TURN SPINDLE, W, N.

E, GET MACHETE, N (crystal room - note don't blow the whistle here or it will collapse and you
will die), GET RUBY (figure won't let you), GET FIGURE, S, DROP FIGURE, N, GET RUBY (figure
appears), E (laboratory - figure follows), BLOW WHISTLE (the figure vanishes), READ PAPER (magic
word MIJUKEL), INSERT RUBY (in laser), FIRE LASER (burns a hole in the wall), GO HOLE (connecting
chamber), E (you bump into a crystal wall), BLOW WHISTLE (wall shatters and you can now go east to a
set of steps), E, D (network of caves and pits), E (see ledge above), CLIMB LADDER, CUT ROPE (with
machete - the chandelier falls and turns into a bridge below), DROP MACHETE, D, GET LADDER, W, U, W,
N (see room above), DROP LADDER, CLIMB LADDER (throne room), SIT THRONE (note you must have the
crown - it spins and you find yourself in the devil's secret meditation room), GET WAND, E
(dining hall), E (balcony), TURN SPINDLE, W, N.

W, N (eerie crypt - the gate shuts behind you), EXAMINE TARANTULA, BURN TARANTULA, E (see an upright
coffin), OPEN COFFIN, GO COFFIN (secret tunnel), E (labyrinth - remember the writing in the glowing
room), N, N, S, W, D, N, E, E (foyer), U (platform), PULL LEVER (now in front of an elevator), GO
ELEVATOR, GET KEY, PUSH BUTTON (sleeping gas fills the elevator... you pass out and awaken in the
glowing room), S, S, UNLOCK CHEST, DROP KEY, GET SANDALS (magic), N, E, E, E, N, E, GO HOLE, E, D,
E, D, E (diamond bridge), WEAR SANDALS, GO BRIDGE (must be wearing sandals - to east side of chasm),
E (dead end where you see impressions of feet), INSERT FOOT (the sandals glow and you get a shock),
REMOVE SANDALS, INSERT FOOT (a hidden vault opens), GO VAULT (inside cliff), E (beautiful garden),
GET TONGS, W, W, GET SANDALS, WEAR SANDALS, W, N (brink of lava stream), GET EMBER (using the
tongs), S, GO BRIDGE, W, U, W, U, W, W.

S, W, W (hellish corridor), WAVE WAND (the gate opens), N, E, GO COFFIN (secret tunnel), E
(labyrinth), N, N, S, W, D, N, E, E (foyer), S (fireheat chamber), DROP EMBER (the pipe turns into a
transport tube), GO TUBE (it sucks you up and you find yourself at the top of a very high tower),
GET SCEPTER (a strange evil force throws you back), DROP EGG (it breaks and now feels good in here),
GET SCEPTER, SAY ETNAD (you pass out and awaken in the (d)ante chamber), E, E, E, N, E, GO HOLE, E,
D, E, D, E, GO BRIDGE, E, S (tight crawlway), E, U, U (under grate), WAVE SCEPTER (the grate opens
and a gust of wind sweeps you out)......

You won!
You removed evil from the palace and
succeeded in your mission!
