Quest for the Holy Grail, The (Hints_and_list_of_takeable_items_in_Quest_for_the_Holy_Grail.txt)

HINTS AND LIST OF TAKEABLE ITEMS IN QUEST FOR THE HOLY GRAIL (BBC VERSION)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a very well made, old-fashioned quest of considerable size and advanced difficulty. It is
possible to hard and soft lock yourself out of victory in numerous ways, not all of them obvious.
There appears to be only one red herring; the banana. The other fruits of the forest, when eaten
act as transports to parts of the map which are not reachable by conventional means.

APPLE
This transports you back to the castle entrance.

BLACKBERRY
This transports you back to the crossroads in the forest.

RASPBERRY
This transports you back to the far side of the valley next to the steps which lead down to the
stone tower.

The stone bridge across the valley always collapses when you cross it but has always been rebuilt on
subsequent visits.

If you map the game there is no need to have a light source with you as moving around in the dark is
never fatal. The torch only needs to be lit when lighting the candle. You can pick up objects in
the dark too provided you know their names.

Climbing Tree. Always take the west branch.

Rope. It needs to be cut in half with the knife. One half helps make the raft and the other half
ties the raft to the saplings on the island.

Lance. Used to lever the fallen tree at the end of the small cave.

Glowing Opal. Put this in the niche in the fallen stone to make it roll away.

Cask Of Wine: Empty it (the wine is poisonous) and fill it with oil from the old barn. Throw this
at the dragon.

Ladder. Besides providing access to the hay loft, place it under the cave past the dragon so you
can climb up through the hole in the roof.

Small Key. Release the witch with it but don t release the maiden.
When on the island choose the Sapphire Sword.

Large Key. Unlocks the door at the end of the monastery hall.

Torch. Light a candle to receive the glowing orb from the hooded monk.
