NOTES
The first thing you have to do is to hide your bag from the pickpockets, because
by the time the mercenary advises you to do so, it will be far too late and you
will have lost your money. Hints you get earlier ("I HOPE THERE AREN'T ANY
PICKPOCKETS ABOUT.") are not very useful.
An unusual feature in this adventure is the possibility of buying objects more
than once - for example, when you have given away an emerald, then you can buy
another one.
Before betting in the casino, it's recommended to make a snapshot of the
adventure, because the game will automatically RAMSAVE each time you bet to stop
you cheating. You can try the commands WAIT (WA), BET or BET ALL. If you still
want to cheat then POKE 53936,0: 53946,0: 53958,0: 53972,0: 53983,0; you can now
perform RAMSAVE before you start betting and every time after you win until you
have 255 dirins.
If your health status is low, you can't pick up any objects, so it's best to
drink the potion after fighting.
Objects you can sell in the Broker's shop:
pudding, mystic globe (after collecting the talisman; don't forget to get the
lantern out of it), talisman (after using it in order to get the brooch), tax
register, book of poems => 100 dirins altogether
There are some characters who wander around (merchant, beggar, youth, farmer,
blacksmith, hunter, drunk, woman, miller, the guard at the castle entrance), so
in the last part of the adventure it costs you a lot of time looking for them in
the entire map.
According to the tax register, there are 31 tax-payers you have to make friendly
with the following actions:
Merchant - PICKPOCKET MERCHANT, GIVE WALLET
Beggar - GIVE FUR, BOOTS, HAM and SALMON
Youth - GIVE SPELL
Farmer - bring back his cart *)

There are still 7 characters which are wandering around: the blacksmith, the
youth, the hunter, the merchant, the beggar, the woman and the miller. Most of
them should appear in the outer ward of the castle, some of them at the streets
outside. When you have found one of them, follow him/her and do the following:
Blacksmith - REMOVE SUIT, GIVE SUIT TO BLACKSMITH ("Thanks, friend. I needed
some spare metal for my forge.")
Youth - GIVE SPELL TO YOUTH ("Wow, a real spell! Thanks a lot, friend.")
Hunter - GIVE ARROW TO HUNTER ("Blimey! An arrow with a gold tip. Thanks,
pal.")
Merchant - PICKPOCKET MERCHANT, at another location: GIVE WALLET TO MERCHANT
("Thank you, kind sir. I must have dropped it somewhere. You are a
true friend.")
Beggar - GIVE FUR TO BEGGAR, GIVE BOOTS TO BEGGAR, GIVE HAM TO BEGGAR, GIVE
SALMON TO BEGGAR (in this order), follow him until he says "You
are a true friend. People like you should rule the country."
Woman - GIVE RAT TO WOMAN ("Destroy that thing quickly! I can't stand
it."), at another location: GIVE RAT TO WOMAN, follow her until
she says "Thanks, friend. I couldn't bear the sight of that dead
thing."
Miller - GIVE BAG TO MILLER ("Cheers, mate. You're a good man.")
When you have done that, visit the King again (don't fight the demon - RAMSAVE
at the corridor to the east of the tower and go through the secret passage
without stopping to the Great Hall, it should be no problem with 255 health
points):
The King says "WELL DONE. YOU HAVE SAVED ME FROM THE BARON'S TREACHERY. NOW THAT
HE'S DEAD I NEED A NEW BARON. YOU'LL DO NICELY."
Well done. You have killed the Baron, saved the King and now you have been made
the new Baron of Duchester. You have won!!!
