Book of the Dead
Some hints by Alex Dijkstra

The game has been written for the Amstrad CPC, C64 and ZX Spectrum. Some of the versions are
slightly different or have some bugs. I will discuss them here. Roomnumbers refer to my maps on
CASA.

Part 1:

***Amstrad CPC***
Room 16 (falling down the cliff) is not available in the Amstrad versions. Therefore you can't
fall down the cliff in room 60, 61, and 63. However if you climb the rope in 62 with some objects in
your possession, the game intents to enter room 16 but because it does not exists, you get an
error.


*** small error walkthrough Dorothy on CASA ***
In the solution From Dorothy she has omitted to take the rope which you need to return to your
boat:

After helping the hermit:
cure me,  W, U (rope breaks), GET ROPE, e (Nile river) 

Now when you reach room 60 (after sailing with the boat):
TIE ROPE and then climb down to the sandy cove.


Part 2:

***Beginning***
To begin with the second part you can load your save game from part 1 or use the codeword given
after the first time you've loaded the save game from part 1. Each version has a different
codeword:

Amstrad CPC:	PISTOLS
C64:		SUPERDUPER
ZX Spectrum:	@#

***Location Adventuress ***

Amstrad CPC
The adventuress is found in room 67

C64/ZX Spectrum
The adventuress is found in room 65

***Reading the tome***

The Amstrad version uses different pages as the C64 and spectrum version. Also you need to use words
and not numbers for the pages:


Pages Amstrad version:
one : six pages used
three : use KERSPLAT in ante room to pass maze
four : Invoke beast
seven : gravity-inverting spell
nine : Butterfly
thirteen: potent beast control spell
sixteen : hint how to defeat the amphisbaena

Pages C64/ZX Spectrum:
1 : six pages used
3 : use KERSPLAT in ante room to pass maze
666 : Invoke beast
7 : gravity-inverting spell
999 : Butterfly
13: potent beast control spell
42: hint how to defeat the amphisbaena


***bugs ZX spectrum version**

There are 2 roomconnections in the Spectrum version which give an error:

-In room 15 when you try to go south the game intents to go to room 99 which does not exist
resulting in an error. This should be room 52 like in the other version. However it is not needed to
return so it doesn't influence the game.
- In room 137 you can go south to room 137 which does not exist resulting in an error.
