OPERATION BERLIN by A. J. Wright Wrightchoice Software Spectrum 48 This is a long, quite challenging game, except for two things you really can't logically figure out. The vocabulary at times is too specific. Which, I suppose, makes it very challenging. Hints (not in order): Don't have enough money to pay for a cab? Go to the bank. You can only select 11 of the 12 objects available. The instructions (also available at World of Spectrum) indicate that the game plays differently, depending on the objects you have with you. For this walkthrough, a hint is: you don't need to take pictures. Examine the case once it is open. The maze with the grille is tricky. So are the locations around the bus station. Even though you do not use the lighter at the rendezvous, it is needed, but it won't be useful if it's empty. Remember that there are two drawers in your office, the first one and the other one. The bric-a-brac needs to be examined in a thorough way. Use the adverb first. Make sure you have read the Bible, so you can decipher the message later, and not panic when the guard takes it away from you. How to decipher the code? You can't. But if you say DONE NOW, you will eventually get access to the manhole (otherwise there is always a guard there). It may also allow you see a location you would not otherwise. You get killed when you leave your room? Have you read the notice? And done what it says to do? How to deal with the dog? Check out the locations around the garage first to find and use objects to kill the dog. Don't forget to check out the kitchen. The correct verb to use with the object you find is STICK. Use it where breaking glass might alert someone. Red herrings: the directory, all the things in your secretary's desk, one object in the catalogue. Keep missing our contact at the platform? Your timing needs to be exact. Solution: Part 1: To start, the game asks for the security label. HIJL [you are John Blake (the fixer). You are an undercover operator, the "killer arm" for a secret organization, with Charles Jenson your boss. You have a device implanted in your brain allowing you to be killed if you are disloyal. Second, if Wolff is still alive, and you think it feasible you are to rescue him; if not, you must terminate him, and make it looks natural; the Soviets will then have no reason to suspect that the false plans that they hold are the real ones. CJ will arrange for Travis to be delayed on his arrival in Berlin. You will rendezvous with the double agent instead of Travis and get the information. The rendezvous is to take place at 20:00 hours local time in the Zoo underground station; you will stand under the station sign and carry a newspaper; the agent will make contact by asking for a match; you will reply, no, but I have a lighter. Except for security control, the complex has been sealed until the morning. All the rooms in the complex are fitted with security cameras, monitored 24 hours a day.
