ALTEREARTH This is a very frustrating game. Not only does it have a very limited and specific vocabulary, some of which makes little sense, but it has what appear to have several red herrings ( a red fish for sure). You have to figure out when to IN or ENTER certain rooms or houses. Objects for which I have found no use (hammer, shark, bird, map, set of keys, record, adding machine, red fish, quartz, mop and bucket, ring, record, flex, laser). You can spend a lot of time trying to find a use for those objects. The battery and the grapplehook are necessary if you make a mistake but you can finish the game without them. You can only carry 5 objects, excluding what you wear. HELP is available but only at a few points in the game. You begin the game by typing ENTER, and find yourself on a silver dais. The plinth descends and you find yourself in a stainless steel room. PRESS RED, E, TAKE AXE, E, N, PUSH BLUE, S, PUSH GREEN, N, N, PUSH WHITE, IN (you are in the lab with the professor). Do not fire the laser as this puts a hole in the passcard. THROW AXE, SEARCH, LOOK, TAKE PASSCARD, PUT PASSCARD (you find yourself in a room with a valve), CLOSE VALVE. That's it.
